This extract from the film “Energy Crossroads” illustrates the fact that things change, people have survived by changing and people will survive who change.

Once upon a time there were no families and people lived in groups like other smart monkeys. People everywhere sacrificed their children in large numbers. Cannibalism once was prevalent among people. People changed.

People created families and people within families survived.

Once upon a time extended families recognized themselves as clans. Clans fought other clans. There were no tribes. That was the normal way of life.

Clans united under tribal leadership and tribes became strong. People changed.

People created tribes and people within tribes survived.

Once upon a time there were no nations. Tribes fought other tribes. That was the normal way of life. Tribes united under national leadership and nations became strong. People changed.

People created nations.

The stability and relative peace within nations people allowed people to develop technologies that prolonged life and eliminated or minimized many diseases.

People flourished.

Now nations fight other nations. This is the normal way of life. When nations unite under global leadership the global human family becomes strong. People can change.

People must again change to survive.

Those people who do not change will not be able to survive. They will be eliminated by the forces of nature as countless species and individuals have gone before them.

The planet will survive.

The planet will survive because nature changes. The changes people now forced upon nature will create conditions that will become more or less devastating to the human species.

We can decide how devastating these conditions will become.

It all depends on how soon people change.

The people who change will survive.

Those who did not accept the changes demanded by family based clans were outcast, did not reproduce and did not survive.

Those who did not accept the changes demanded by tribes were outcast and perished.

Those who do not accept the changes demanded by nations become persecuted, isolated and cease to influence the course of human development.

Soon, those who do not accept the changes demanded by the global human family will find it ever more difficult to continue.

It has always been so.

There is no refuge in old patterns of thought and behavior. Everything changes and people must change to survive.

There are many who understand this history, recognize the implications and are changing right now.

You have a choice.
