Hear ”A Peaceful Solution” by Will Freed.

I feel it is a great privilege to publish Will Freed’s version of “A Peaceful Solution.” There are a couple of reasons why I feel this way.

First, Will Freed creates a breathtakingly beautiful version of “A Peaceful Solution.” His voice is bittersweet and melancholy without becoming saccharine or morbid. He produces a mature sound that reflects a wise understanding without being preachy.

My impression is more that he sings “A Peaceful Solution” to reach out and implore for compassion and peace. It is as if Will Freed is expressing a great sadness not only for a lack of peace but also for the perpetrators of war and conflict who have gone astray.

In my opinion it is more than merely ironic that the United States of America, once the great world leader for peace and justice, has fallen in the eyes of the world to be a unilateral imperialistic aggressor.

But I digress.

Will Freed superbly complements his vocals with evocative guitar work. It sounds like two guitars to me, one providing a second voice answering Will Freed’s vocals. This constitutes the first reason I feel privileged to publish Will Freed’s version of “A Peaceful Solution.”

Second, Will Freed is obviously an intelligent and compassionate individual. What makes this even more poignant is the fact that Will Freed is based in Europe. Will Freed is looking at the United States of America from the outside.

And Will Freed looks with compassion.

With a little bit a research you can find out that Will Freed is a foster parent. He is not content to only see and sing about the lack of peace in the world. Will Freed stands up and does what he can to create peace.

Will Freed says, “Were the armed forces to be disbanded, the money saved in the budgets of the major world powers could be pooled and within a few years, the world-population could be living on blossoming fertile land. We are all responsible.”

Will Freed does not use his position to condemn but to politely request that we work for peace. He points out both the history and the potential for the future.

And Will Freed brings it all to his music.

So I feel privileged to publish Will Freed’s version of “A Peaceful Solution” not only because he is an accomplished musician but also because he is a thoughtful and considerate human being deeply moved by the current state of affairs.

We wrote about Will Freed in an earlier post. He also responded to a few questions.

Why are you passionate about creating peace?

War is hell for everyone directly involved. Peace and freedom is the necessary condition for any human development and positive evolution.

My motivation to do my part for the achievement of peace is based on my love and respect for every creature that is living on this planet.

Why arts for peace?

As an artist I consider myself responsible to have a positive influence, but artist or not, we are all responsible.

What are your ideas for peaceful solutions?

The very first requirement to assure a secure future for the coming generations is an open mind without pre-judgments combined with the deep wish to find non-violent solutions through communication.

This peaceful solution requires great leaders to apply a clear love inspired vision combined with the ability to forgive. This strategy will solve the immense problems of today’s world. Opportunities emerge as a result of solving problems.

I grew up and live my adult life in several countries. At the moment I’m residing in Germany but often stay in other European countries as well as overseas. I can clearly see how America is being looked at from the outside.

I can assure you the majority of people here do not trust the current American government. More so, this current American administration is seen internationally as corrupt and criminal.

From a German perspective America has long been recognized as the liberator from Nazism and as the land with freedom and opportunities.

This is no longer the case.

In search of solutions I would like to add that my point of view is not focused exclusively on America’s faults. We have many more forces of power on this planet, which are dangers to humanity and it will take an international effort to improve the situation. Historically on occasion America has been a positive influence to the whole world and hopefully will be again.

I am only one human and like most of the people, not better or worse. I have faults like everybody else.

To be an artist is nothing very special. What is art and what is not art? But what I firmly believe is that many little people can make a big difference.

The great Nelson Mandela said, “There is no easy walk to freedom anywhere, and many of us will have to pass through the valley of the shadow of death again and again before we reach the mountaintop of our desires.”

And Nelson Mandela knows. He was able to forgive, finding a non-violent solution that gave millions of people a chance. To me this man is a real hero. My wish for America is a great leader like Nelson Mandela.

  2. Will Freed:)

Your song is wonderful… filled with your heart, compassion and impeccable artistry. I have listened to it over and over again!

Thank You, Will, for your music and also for your obvious concern for the American people. “We the People” are no different than a lot of other people all over the world… “seeking happiness and finding sorrow”… and YOUR kind heart….actually recognizes that. Bless You, Will.
