Global Democracy Equals World Peace

The real conditions that confront the project of world peace at first may seem daunting. Now with the Cold War well behind us and the first experiments with global order completed, we can look at a larger picture.

We cannot help but recognize our planet as a sick body with the global crisis of peaceful democracy as a symptom of corruption and disorder. Global peace and global democracy share a common fate.

Despite the constant threat of violence and war, despite the sickness of the planet and its political systems, never before has the restlessness for peace and freedom been so widespread throughout the world.

Consider the interminable lists of grievances against the current global order, not only against poverty and starvation, not only asserting animal rights and the need for appropriate technology, and not only against political and economic inequalities and injustices,

but also against the corruption of life in its entirety.

In addition to the grievances there are countless proposals to reform the global system to make it more peaceful and democratic. All of this global ferment and all these expressions of fury and hope demonstrate a growing and indomitable desire for a democratic peaceful world.

Every sign of corruption, every act of violence and every crisis of democratic representation, on all levels of the global hierarchy, is confronted by a democratic will to peace.

Peace and love might seem out of place in a world like ours in which the global order bases and legitimizes its power in war, degrading and suspending all democratic mechanisms.

This crisis of peaceful democracy is not specific to Euro-America or any region of the world. The crisis of representation and the corruption of the forms of democracy is a planetary condition, immediately evident in all the nation-states, epidemic in the regional communities of contiguous states, and violently expressed at the global, imperial level.

The global crisis of democracy
affects every from of government in the world.

The interminable state of global war is a condition that contributes to the contemporary tendency toward the formation of a single, monarchical system of domination over the world. Movement towards global democracy equals movement towards world peace.

Protect Medical Marijuana Patients

2700 Year Old Medical Grade Cannabis

2700 Year Old Medical Grade Cannabis

Former Candidate for 2006 California Lt. Governor Joins Campaign To Legalize Cannabis For All Adults In California

Lynnette Shaw states medical marijuana patients not well protected by present laws.

Lynnette Shaw was drafted by the Libertarian Party to run for Lt Governor in 2006. She garnered nearly 150,000 votes and an endorsement by Willie Nelson for her platform about Marijuana Peace.

“The patients are still in danger. There have been excesses by law enforcement all over the State, plus problems with unregulated medical marijuana outlets. I had hoped that Marijuana Peace would mean that all the patients would be left alone to use their medical cannabis without being busted and run into the courts anymore, statewide.

“This has happened only in a few places around California. After 13 years of fear and agony, I give up on my dream of safe and affordable access for all patients in California, under our current laws.

“The only way that the patients will be left alone is when any adult over 21 can use and possess an ounce of cannabis if they choose.”
-Lynnette Shaw

Lynnette Shaw has joined proponents Richard Lee and Jeff Jones in the effort to gather signatures to qualify the Tax and Regulate Cannabis 2010 Initiative.

“ I call on all my friends, supporters, and activists to join me in gathering registered voter signatures to qualify the well-thought-out ballot initiative sponsored by Oaksterdam University.”
-Lynnette Shaw

Volunteers may call 415.456.4313 for more information about Shaw’s Marin County effort. http://www.taxcannabis2010.org contains the entire text of the initiative plus further information.

Medical grade cannabis, distinct from plants grown for fiber, has been cultivated by people for thousands of years. The democratic voice of the people of California has spoken loud and clear while the militarized oppression continues.

You know you can do something to bring attention to problems in our system. If reclaiming our rights and freedoms regarding cannabis is too much of a stretch for you, I am positive there is some other issue you can get behind.

Now is the time to be politically active, not just during an election year, but also during those times when laws are made and changed. You can help change the laws now, now would be a good time to do something about it.

Historic Auto Efficiency Rule

*** BREAKING NEWS *** BREAKING NEWS ***

tailpipe-email_jpg

New rules will cut global warming emissions from cars.

Send an email supporting these historic new rules.

Moments ago, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) proposed the first national standards to limit global warming pollution in U.S. history.

The proposal would:

  • Reduce global warming pollution from automobiles by 21% by 2030.
  • Cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 950 million metric tons.
  • Save 1.8 billion barrels of oil.
  • Save the average consumer more than $3,000 in fuel costs.

EDF President Fred Krupp issued this statement in response:

“This is a critical step to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and curb pollution that threatens our health. It will deliver immediate benefits for the country as Congress crafts comprehensive climate legislation.”

Today’s groundbreaking action supports President Obama’s landmark May 19th accord with major automakers, the Governor of California, the United Auto Workers Union, and environmentalists.

Passenger cars and light-trucks emit nearly 20% of America’s greenhouse gases in the form of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and hydrofuorocarbons. In April, EPA provisionally found that these four contaminants and two other greenhouse gases endanger human health and welfare.

Today’s announcement opens a 60-day public comment period before the rule can be finalized.

Please take a moment to submit your comments in support of this historic rule.

With your help, we will continue our efforts to fight global warming on a variety of fronts. Our top priority remains passing legislation to establish an economy-wide cap on America’s global warming pollution.

Today’s announcement is an important step in our efforts to protect our planet from the catastrophic threats of run-away global warming.

Thank you for your activism and support,
Environmental Defense Fund

Healthy Family Farms For Peace Please

Willie Nelson Time 4 Hemp interview podcast of 11/27/2008 sheds light upon many aspects of relationship between family farms and commercial hemp. Through his work with Farm Aid, Willie Nelson has brought attention to the need for price parity for farm products.

Forcing farmers into bankruptcy and then offering them welfare has not proven to either benefit farmers nor secure our food supply. Forcing farmers into bankruptcy only benefits the institutions of the financial services industry.

The financial services industry has structured our economy to first force debt upon raw materials producers and then foreclose upon them, thereby acquiring the means of raw materials production themselves. To save family farms, family farmers need to start growing crops that actually return a profit.

Without restructuring the entirety of agri-business, neutralizing the power of politicians protecting vested interests, re-evaluating the influence of dairy and beef lobbies and nullifying the effects the pharmaceutical industry, petro-chemical industry, forest products industry and textile industry, only a few crops can return a profit to farmers today.

Commercial hemp can return a profit to farmers today.

In one fell swoop, the raw materials underlying a broad spectrum of industrial production can shift from nonrenewable resources to renewable hemp based materials and farmers can obtain a living wage from their labor.

With commercial hemp at the center of new agricultural policy, local agricultural economies around the world can afford to liberate themselves from United States agri-business domination. Profitable farmers will no longer require welfare-like subsidy.

Without the subsidies, agricultural products will need to be sold at parity prices. Without competition from subsidized products, farmers around the world can sell their produce at parity prices.

Economies based upon renewable and sustainable agricultural production benefited human society for thousands of years before the evolving complexities of contemporary human society allowed the financial services industry to maneuver the nations of the world into servitude with fictional value.

By confusing debt for value, the financial services industries manipulated fractional reserves into the controlling interest of key industries. Managing key industries into bankruptcy and foreclosure extended their power while increasing their wealth.

As part of the consolidation of raw materials production, the commercial potential of hemp based products was killed by oppressive legislation deceptively passed through an ignorant congress. The criminalization of cannabis-hemp-marijuana is a key feature of the economic enslavement of raw materials producers and thereby steering the entire economy.

The war on drugs is part of the monopolization of raw materials production to enable wholesale enslavement. The widespread collapse of family farms emerges as a symptom of the larger erosion of personal sovereignty, rights and freedom.

The protection and survival of family farms around the world, including decriminalizing the most versatile and perhaps most profitable crop that can be grown today, helps insure the peaceful survival of all people. Profitable family farms and access to the broad spectrum of hemp based products goes a long way towards promoting global peace.

Widespread legal hemp production can also substitute for nonrenewable resources. Wars for the acquisition of increasingly rare nonrenewable resources will no longer seem convincingly necessary.

Widespread legal hemp production will also prove an economic boon to family farms, removing the localized frictions manipulated by regional warlords. The dissolution of cartels and monopolies removes their influence from public policy.

Economically healthy family farms and unrestricted utilization of hemp materials goea a long way to supporting peace. So when it comes time to choose, choose peace please.

America Melody Angel

YouTube Preview Image

Melody Angel begins her video of America with the text:

“for all my friends who died in Iraq”

and then she sings her moving song with an incredible voice that reaches out with such strength, maturity and projection that it continues to amaze even after multiple viewings. Despite the profound beauty and power of her voice, I feel that it is the sincere emotion she brings to her art that reaches out and touches us.

Melody Angel clearly and simply expresses feelings shared by many. Peace really can come quickly if we just stop believing the lies that drive us over and over into violent conflict.

America can stop bleeding now just by exercising choice. The same rights and freedoms that we have repeatedly been reminded of by nearly every spiritual leader may be exercised at any time to stop war.

Watch and listen to this song, then visit both the Melody Angel YouTube channel and the Melody Angel official myspace page. Musical artists with this talent and heart deserve our attention.

America lyrics

Oh America bleed no more
Oh America bleed no more
Save yourself and stop the war
Save yourself and stop the war

haven’t we all been lied to
cause the government never
clearly thought it through
nothing but greed brought us here
how quickly we pay for our sins
only old men wage wars now
send the young off to die for this now
its not too late to change things
its not too late to have a dream

Oh America bleed no more
Oh America bleed no more
Save yourself and stop the war
Save yourself and stop the war

no we’re not in the 60’s
but that doesn’t mean we cant take the streets
marching in packs while carrying signs
so Peace remains this country cry
and put equality in there
take the hand and forget the stares
its not too late to change things
its not too late to have a dream

Oh America bleed no more
Oh America bleed no more
Save yourself and stop the war
Save yourself and stop the war

Cause they’ll be no justice no peace
We’re taking it to the streets
so they know we’re for real
we’ll walk in the absents of fear
we’ll walk in the absents of fear

Oh America bleed no more
Oh America bleed no more
Save yourself and stop the war
Save yourself and stop the war
