  1. I have walked, now for thirty years, in demonstrations to end war, to stop the misue of public funds on the weaponry of death, to feed hungry children here and around the world. The youth of the globe are dying in war a country is destroyed, as we witness enormous greed and power prevail in the walled off quarters of our so-called-leaders.

Art Speaks. It has in the past and it continues to now. You are making a difference you are recognizing that you need not sit and listen any longer; you have simply stood up and without violence shown another solution. I honor you all and I am grateful that there will be others to carry on, but most importantly, i must give great thanks to my son Tim Garcia, for continuing to find his voice. It is beautiful. Namaste

  3. I reviewed the opening of the War and Peace Art Exhibition here:

I truly believe this is an historical event for a couple of reasons. This public display of solidarity for peace is not to be under estimated.

As Molly said in her comment, “Art Speaks. It has in the past and it continues to now. You are making a difference you are recognizing that you need not sit and listen any longer; you have simply stood up and without violence shown another solution.”

Michelle and Tim should be proud of what they have accomplished.

One of the reasons I’ve written it up is so that other people (off Maui) can see and understand what they have done here. And I wrote it for Michelle and Tim because maybe they are too close to it to see what they have done.

Thank you to all who have stood up.

  4. i am an artist who has a piece in the show titled “peace pilgram”. my brief story…… i grew up with violence in my own family. my parents who were also artists and who also contributed politically to bring attention to the injustices that were going on in in the world in their time (and since the beinning of man) didn’t know how to live peacefully with each other. my life has been about understanding and healing those experiences and forgiving them for their inability to walk their talk. i am grateful for the experiences as it brought my attention to the discomfort within me that all violence brings. i thought early on i would be an activist however i found that after giving birth to four children my attention and focus needed to be with them, to insure that they had all their needs met or, at least, the ones i was aware of. a peaceful creative loving envionment was the most valid thing i could offer, both to them and to myself. all of my work has to do with peace as it is the only thing i know to do….to practice peace from within. there is so much to be angry about in this world, so many injustices, so many needs going unmet. i find it overwhelming. i have been aware of it my whole life and i am tired and bored of it. i only know how to deal with me (barely) and the feeling i carry around and offer my fellow men and women, children, animals, plants is a priority…….so i choose awareness as my tool and i practice using it. i am a peace pilgram…… and we are all the peacemakers if and when we choose to be.

i am so grateful to those of you who care. ….and especially those of you that get out there and do something with your care. i thank ALL of you who put this event together and who choose to practice peace. i love you all.

    truly,

    stephanie clifton
