Be Peace to Have Peace

All the powers in the universe are already ours.
It is we who have put our hands before our eyes
and cry that it is dark.

We are what our thoughts have made us;
So take care about what you think.
Words are secondary.
Thoughts live; they travel far.

When an idea exclusively occupies the mind,
it is transformed into an actual physical
or mental state.

We reap what we sow.
We are makers of our own fate.
None else has the blame; none has the praise.

There is no help for you outside of yourself;
you are the creator of the universe.
Like the silkworm
You have built a cocoon around yourself….
Burst your own cocoon
and come out as the beautiful butterfly,
as the free soul.

Then alone you will see Truth.

In one word, this ideal is that you are divine.
God sits in the temple of every human body.

Swami Vivekananda

“I believe there is one force that binds the entire universe together, and that force is God.”  Willie Nelson

If we want to have peace in the world we must start with ourselves. Before anything happens in the external world, we first create it in our minds as a thought. Thoughts are the first cause of manifestation. Look inside your heart. Do you have anger, resentment, fear, worry, insecurity, revenge, arrogance or any other negative emotion?
You might say, “well of course I’m human everyone does.” And I say to you a spark can set the forest afire.

We grow up believing negative feelings are natural. Where did we pick up that belief? If we can recognize and understand the cause of our habitual negative thought patterns they will not be able to defeat us any more. We will find ourselves in a higher place able to conceive positive solutions to any situation we encounter and act to create positive changes.

Now look at our external world. The reality we find ourselves in today is an extension of each one of us, a mirror that cannot lie. We are not separate from our environment. Our external world is the second cause of manifestation not the first cause. It is the result or outcome not the cause. When we focus on our situation and try to change these results very often we fail because the cause of our situation is in fact our thoughts, beliefs and feelings.

We make choices every day about how we feel or think or believe and very often we speak of what is wrong. We think we will feel better if the external world would conform to our desires. This is a backward way of thinking. Having anything will never help you be who you want to be. First you have to be who you want to be and then you can have anything you imagine even world peace. Forcing peace without understanding the cause of war will never create lasting peace.
