I love the sentiment expressed in Space for Uncertainty. Besides it is beautifully performed.

Hear ”Space for Uncertainty” by Sky Nelson

It came to my attention through a comment Sky left on a previous post, A Peaceful Solution Video. Since then we have corresponded through email and he has given us permission to post the song on this site.

I really look forward to what he will do with A Peaceful Solution.

“I Forgot I Was Alive” is Sky Nelson’s newest release. Sky writes and performs from the perspective that his own inner peace is the primary ingredient to contributing peace in the world. Though starting early in music at three years old, for Sky music is fundamentally “a medium through which I can discover meaning in my life and uncover the roots of happiness and satisfaction.” Described by a colleague as a “musician’s musician”, Sky has been profoundly affected by the music of very diverse artists in many genres. Sky left a promising career as a physics teacher in 2006 to pursue his passion for peace and music.

Working in the arts unlocks a powerful ability to promote peace. This is especially so when the art itself is focused upon specifically developing a peaceful environment.

Sky works with two organizations worthy of note.

The mission of DrawBridge is “to provide art programs for homeless and other vulnerable children in an environment that fosters their sense of joy, creativity and exuberance. At a deeper level, they strive to promote the well-being and stability of family by creating a supportive community in which children help other children, establishing a lifetime of giving.”

The mission of Release the Fear is “to counter the paralyzing effects of violence in our communities by turning fear, anger and hate into acceptance and hope, by bridging endless possibilities through the creative process.”

Both of these organizations demonstrate the potential of the culture of peace to make meaningful contributions to our world.
