I am not talking about psycho-babble-rap or hip-metaphysical-bullsh*t. I am not talking about New Age Woo-Woo. This isn’t just wishful thinking either.

This is how the world works.

You want to say that the world is just this way or that way. But wait a minute. There are two things going on here you have to consider.

First, consider that the world wasn’t always like this and that it is still changing. Think about how it got this way. Think about how it is going to change.

Second, consider what you value and how you judge the world. Think about how your personal point of view affects what you value and how you judge. Think about how your point of view got this way. Think about how your point of view is subject to change.

Different people have different dreams.

A Native American elder once told me that he didn’t understand the dreams Europeans brought to North America. He told me that his people dreamed of mild winters and summer rains. He told me that his people dreamed of fat deer and more fish. He told me that his people dreamed of better harvests and peace between tribes.

Their dreams came true for hundreds of years.

That Native American elder told me that his people would never have dreamed of skyscrapers. He told me that they never would have dreamed of concrete highways. He told me they never would have dreamed of airplanes or television. Then he pointed out something.

For the Europeans to achieve their dreams they had to convince the Native Americans that they were powerless. And that is exactly what they did. The persecution of Native Americans continued until they were convinced of their powerlessness.

What was created is exactly what was the dominant dream.

In today’s world we are presented with choice between two mutually exclusive alternatives. On one hand we are presented with a mainstream religion point of view that claims all power from a higher being, usually God. On the other hand we are presented with a mainstream scientific point of view that claims we are cosmic accidents.

This is what we are given if we are content to accept what we are told.

And both answers make us powerless.

But if we do our own study a different picture emerges. If you actually study the words of for example Jesus or Buddha you read that we each have the power. And if you actually study what is happening in science you see that scientists are arriving at the same idea.

The truth is we each are powerful.

When we were children adults desired to control us. When we went to school, teachers desired to control us. And to make us controllable we were convinced we were powerless. We were told that over and over again.

If we don’t want to be just a cosmic accident we are told to give our power over to a mainstream religion.

If the obvious hypocrisy of mainstream religions that preach war is peace is not acceptable the alternative is we are just a powerless cosmic accident.

This is a false dichotomy.

More and more people are discovering that we are not limited in our choices to the alternatives of a false dichotomy. For one thing it is obvious our leaders are not limited to these choices. They obviously exercise a great deal of power. What they dream actually manifests.

We possess no lesser power.

But we have to claim it. Right now too many people accept being controlled. They give away or deny their power. They sacrifice their dreams. Dreams of a world of compassion, peace, justice and community in harmony with the land are sacrificed so that a few individuals can achieve their dreams of power over others and wealth beyond measure.

Your personal point of view affects what you value and how you judge. Most importantly it affects what dreams you value and how you judge your power to achieve them.

Does it serve you to value your dreams less than others?

Does it help you to judge yourself powerless?

The world is changing. It has always changed. It will continue to change. It is up to you whether the change goes for you or against you.

Claim your power.

Dream you dream.
