Hear “A Peaceful Solution” by Dave Rayburn Project
The Dave Rayburn Project, Dave Rayburn (guitar, vocals), D.J. Jones (bass, vocals) and Miguel Zuleta (drums, vocals), have expanded upon their commitment to peace with a very polished and professional version of “A Peaceful Solution.” Everyone should find it encouraging to hear great musicians such as these sing out for peace.
The Dave Rayburn Project created an engaging illusion by starting this recording with the sound of tuning in a radio. After a little bit of static we first hear some of a Willie Nelson version then cut to the Dave Rayburn Project.
It would be grand if every channel on the radio each played a different version “A Peaceful Solution” all at the same time. With 175 videos and now 60 audio versions it would have significant coverage.
As voices for peace make themselves heard in ever greater numbers ever mounting pressure to seek peace cannot be ignored by those we allow to lead. This peaceful revolution will continue until it succeeds.
* * * * Artists’ Statement * * * * *
We only have one world to live in. Peace is not a nice, quaint abstract belief, but rather it is an absolute necessity for human survival.
The members of the Dave Rayburn Project have displayed a solid history of their work for peace. In fact, bassist D.J. Jones has personally been involved since 1973, when he was a volunteer for the McGovern Campaign at the age of only 16 after losing an older cousin in Vietnam. Additionally, in 2001, Dave Rayburn spearheaded a localized musical effort to benefit the American Red Cross’ Liberty Disaster Fund immediately following the terror attacks on September 11th.
Our motivation for peace is very simple. Survival! With the recording of “A Peaceful Solution”, we find that, as artists, we can contribute to the cause of peace. Like John Lennon’s “War is Over” billboards, it is a creative and artistic means that we as artists can express our disgust to an intolerable situation. As illustrated with the current situation in the Middle East, it becomes evident that the message of peace needs to be pursued with a fervent diligence.
We in the DRP all have our individual reasons for wanting to work for peace. Some noble; world peace for humanity’s sake without any nationalistic preconditions for gain. Some more self-serving but no less important than having friends and family in uniform, serving abroad, and wanting them to come home safe and sound. Having lost family members to war brings home the absolute necessity for striving for peace so others do not have to bear the pain that only war can bring.
As a global community, we need to keep the belief in peace going, because the war isn’t going away any time soon! Creating awareness creates motivation… and motivation creates change. If “A Peaceful Solution” reaches even a few open-minded listeners, the results could be exponentially positive.
Please pass this message along to everyone within your reach!
Peace!
Dave, D.J. & Miguel
