Who are you? Are you being the authentic you?

Or are you just being who you are told to be?

It sure is an easy excuse that you are just doing as you are told. It sure is easy to go along with however they say the world is.

It is easy not to think.

And if you take responsibility for your thoughts and actions it is so much work. Then you have to think. Then you have to honestly look at the results of your actions.

Then you might have to do something else.

Being who you are and not who someone else tells you to be is the path to meaningful change. Actually doing something real with your life. Stepping away from the fear of being an authentic human being.

So there it is.

You already know where the easy path will take you. You’re seeing it play out in the media and in your own community. Just keep your head down and follow along.

If you like what is happening then there is no need to think about a thing.

The hard path is another thing altogether. You will have to think. You will have to act. You will have to be an authentic human being that trusts what you see with your eyes and hear with your ears.

You will have to take responsibility for being more than an unthinking programmed robot.

So how about peace? Have you given up on that idea?

You know what the right answer is. But what do you believe? Is it too late? Are we just marking time?

Is it too much work to work for peace?

There is an interesting thing that happens with surveys and opinion surveys. Most people just give you the answer that you wish to hear. I can go around all day long and everyone I ask tells me they want peace.

But they know that is what I want to hear.

We’ve all become so good at being good followers. We’ve all become so good at giving away our power, our individuality and our human uniqueness. We’ve all become so good to be good in other peoples’ eyes.

And we can watch the news, read the paper and see our communities fall apart then wonder how this can be happening.

It is happening because too many take the easy path. It is happening because too many find it easier to believe the lies than think for themselves. It is happening because too many people have given up on being authentic human beings.

We are told it isn’t our fault. It is always the other guy. It’s those people who are in some way different that are to blame.

It isn’t that first Great Britain then the United States has had their way with meddling with the people of the Middle East ever since 1917. Oh no. It is those people who live there that are to blame. They are the troublemakers.

It isn’t that we allow greedy men to profit hugely while we also allow our schoolteachers to barely make a living. It is their fault. We have nothing to do with it. We just have to live with the results.

Do you like the results that you are living with?

Do you really like the lack of peace in the world?

Can you really believe that it is all someone else’s responsibility to do something about it? No? I can already hear your next statement.

It is, “Then tell us what to do.”

But isn’t that exactly the problem. Isn’t the problem really that you just want to be told what to do? And if I am a very clever writer, clever enough to convince you that what you are doing is wrong then I should also be clever enough to tell you what to do.

No thank you.

You are going to have to figure it out by yourself.

That is the only chance we have.
