J.D. Stenzel has taken Willie Nelson up on his A Peaceful Solution lyric writing contest. J.D. has written entirely new lyrics to Willie Nelson’s song, A Peaceful Solution. Please check out J.D.’s lyrics and see how much freedom you can exercise in using A Peaceful Solution as an inspiration to create an original concept.
No rules to follow.
What ideas come to you as you contemplate A Peaceful Solution? Each person has valuable insights that we’d like to showcase on Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute web site. You may carry a valuable piece of a puzzle that will shed light on the deep recesses of our collective consciousness.
The answer lies within each of us.
J.D says, “I know you wanted A Peaceful Solution, Willie. I ain’t tryin’ to say that’s not a good hook, but this is what came to me, so I wrote it:”
WE DON’T WANT YOUR WAR NO MORE
Everywhere you turn there’s another war
Nobody knows what most are for
Started by some political hack
Well, I ain’t gonna listen to that no more
No more
We don’t want your war no more!
Learn to love and close the door on war
Learn to love and close the door on war
(Melody Bridge)
The limousines and the private jets
Ain’t slowed down a damn bit yet
Stuffed shirt lobbies that politician
Then they spin it around on television
Next thing you know we’re fightin mad
From the revolution to the desert sand
Meanwhile somewhere back at the ranch
Hyenas laugh while they stack that cash
No more
No more
We don’t want your war no more!
No more
No more
We don’t want your war no more!
Learn to love and close the door on war
Learn to love and close the door on war
Everywhere you turn there’s another war
Nobody knows what most are for
Started by some political hack
Well, I ain’t gonna listen to that no more
No more
No more
We don’t want your war no more!
No more
No more
We don’t want your war no more!
Learn to love and close the door on war
Learn to love and close the door on war
Learn to love and close the door on war
No more
No more
We don’t want your war no more!

I was born on January 16th in 1963. My father was the second-biggest influence on my life, right behind God. My father instilled in me a desire to understand how and why things and societies work (or fail to work) as they do, and my father always taught me to be a strong advocate of peace. To the question, “Why do people have wars,” he answered: “Bullies pick on the weak because bullies aren’t smart enough to understand diplomacy. The weak overreact because they’re scared of getting beat up. In the end (and this has always stayed with me), war is just an overreaction.”
I pay attention to people, and what makes them tick. People are frustrated throughout the world—people feel disenfranchised and small, and their voices are muted through debt, apathy and the legal system. People could rise above all of their grief if they’d just believe they individually and collectively matter—but how are people supposed to feel relevant when they’re not even getting by? I change attitudes through song, the language of angels. Music has the potential to make a bad day okay, cause the sick to heal faster and make lazy people dance. This, my friends, is power!
I join together with those who seek a more reasoned approach to politics—namely peace. I think if people understood more about one another and put away the colored sunglasses life would begin to improve. People don’t want to hate—they want to belong. There’s plenty of room on this planet for those who disagree, but if my voice matters at all, my advice to those who contemplate war is: “Try love; love is free.” I appreciate the opportunity to work toward peace with Willie Nelson, whom I admire greatly, and respect. Thank you sincerely–

J.D ~
You have a POWERFUL line in “Learn to Love….and Close the Door on War!”,
and it could also be a NEW “Banner for Peace”:)

Could be a beautiful banner, I must agree. Hmmmmm! (wheels, slowly spinning at first, now pick up more steam).
