A Peaceful Solution Tanner Watt

Tanner Watt’s video becomes the first all Maui version of A Peaceful Solution because Tanner uses Mudslide’s A Peaceful Solution soundtrack. Both artists just happen to live on Maui.
A Peaceful Solution brings people together.
I don’t know if they know each other but the match up between images and soundtrack work exceedingly well to convey a rising call to action. Tanner allows the soundtrack to set the pace as his cuts synchronize beautifully propelling us into the mounting tension of the contradictions surrounding the War in Iraq.
Act now.
Tanner Watt aka ForgetfulJones13 gives us a hard look at a variety of issues associated with the War in Iraq along with responses from everyday citizens. He sparingly throws in a little humor to wake us from the tendency to become numb from our habitual exposure to violent imagery.
Stay awake.
Tanner’s juxtaposition of images with Mudslide’s driving guitar and vocals creates an urgency to commit to A Peaceful Solution. Tanner shows us the cost of violence that ruins lives and the environment.
We can afford peace.
I see promise when people like Tanner choose to become involved. He provides us important clues. How many new parents do you know who never think about getting involved in a peace movement?
Ask them to create the world they want for their children.
Many people know that violence does not work to good effect. Now we ask you to reach out and invite others to get involved by becoming messengers of peace. Many people just need to be asked. Be like Tanner’s friend who asked him to make a video.
Encourage someone to join us in Willie Nelson’s peace project.
Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute invites you to make your own video or audio version of A Peaceful Solution. Let’s keep reaching out and join together to create A Peaceful Solution.
Will you help?

My name is Tanner Watt. I am 29 and I live on Maui with my wife Shauna and my son Van. I guess it was a friend’s suggestion that inspired me to create the video collage for the song.
To be honest I have only been working for peace actively for a short time. For most my life I was uninterested in politics and world affairs. When I moved to Maui I met some really great people who were very involved and politically aware, thanks to them I opened my eyes to many of the injustices and atrocities being committed by our nation’s government.
I think the most powerful thing that pushed me to work for a peaceful solution
was the birth of my son Van. I hope to bring him up in a world where people are tolerant of all people and their cultures and beliefs. So that’s why I have committed to support only peaceful policies and politicians, and do what I can to make a better world for my son.
As for my ideas and solutions?
I don’t really know where to start. I guess I would say Violence should not be a solution to our problems. It is easy to blow something up or kill someone, it is difficult to build something or to work with people and compromise.
That’s probably why the President’s policy is what it is. He’s not intelligent enough to build something or learn about another culture, I mean he doesn’t even know the difference between a Sunni and a Shiite?!
Sorry I was starting on a tangent. Anyway I’m glad you liked the video, hopefully a few folks will see it.
Aloha,
Tanner

It’s nice to meet you here, Tanner!…and to know that your most powerful (and wonderful) reason that pushes you to work for a peaceful solution is the birth of your son!:)
