Charlie Martin Fugate, guitar and vocals, and Todd Samm on bass, from Macon, Missouri have gone the distance by both performing Willie Nelson’s and Amy Nelson’s A Peaceful Solution in their style and creating a video to go with it.
I found their video profoundly meaningful. Their Southern Rock Ballad style supports the pacing of the images. And the images themselves suggest a powerful story.
We are shown many of the same images repeatedly throughout this video. An atomic bomb blast, gas stations and graveyards contrast to small town scenes, cornfields and A Peaceful Solution in text.
Over and over we see these images.
The contrasts between the two groups of images illustrate a conflict between two visions of the United States of America.
The images suggest a war between these two visions of the USA.
These visions conflict because they exclude each other. One cannot co-exist with the other. One vision will eventually dominate reality.
Ultimately it becomes our choice which vision dominates. We decide which vision wins.
We the People will become the deciders as to which vision the United States of America manifests. We will win the war for the vision of our choice.

Part 1 Charlie Martin Fugate
I do have to say this means a lot to me to be a part of this, to have my work published on this site and finally finding something to be a part of that I deeply felt committed to as I am to the environment, alternative energy and the future of this country and its welfare… and I thank you all for what you’re doing.
…and to be real honest with you, I worked all day today just trying to get my feelings and thoughts out on paper and before it was all said and done I was in tears over just what I was feeling about all this. I just felt like I needed to give more than I had or could… I just wish I had more to give. I’m somewhat emotional when I dig deep into my soul and true feelings…
Charlie Martin Fugate & Todd Samm
Growing up in the small town in North Central Missouri I was born in 1957, Todd Samm born in 1963 we have been friends since childhood. Both Todd and I were raised around musical families. Both growing up around family get-to-gathers with singing dancing and playing. We both developed a love for music and a need to express our selves in our Music, playing off and on together now for many years developing our own styles as well as complimenting each others.
Life for me changed in 1996 after a bad car accident, But I try my best to hold on to the love I feel for my Music, Composing, Writing, Recording some times performing, and Todd has always been there for me as my friend through the worst of times. I have always felt thankful to be blessed with such a friend and the ability to create music together as we have.
Closest either of us have came to a record contract is when we got an advertisement in the mail to Join Columbia house Records Club, Oh Well maybe Someday but hey, we’re still happy playing and recording as we do. We have always shared our views with each other on everything from Music to Politics.
There is nothing better in this world then to get friends together play a little music and enjoy life. To be able to share with others the art, the voice, the music our hearts and souls to me is what life is all about and in that I find PEACE and it’s my hopes through Music others will as well.
As Todd is not present at this time I think I can speak for him as well as my self when I say, I support our troops, and Salute them for they give all for this nation. They are a vital part of our nation’s security. I do not dispute the need for us to battle Terrorism.
In fact, I think we should apply more energy not only to fighting it but to detour it, by better diplomacy, better understanding the needs and beliefs of other, by not trying to be the worlds policeman and letting the United Nations do there job, by being more dependant on our selves and less on the foreign trade by solving our problems and stopping the profitization of them.
I myself do however dispute the honesty, integrity, motivation and action taken by the president of this United States and his Staff in deceiving not only Congress, not only the Senate but the American people by misleading us into believing that Iraq was a threat to national security and part of the Terrorist Act of 9/11 and therefore leading the U.S. into a war with Iraq.
This nation has serious flaws when it comes to addressing problems that do not financially benefit our financial institutions, Politicians or Corporate America. It all boils down to Greed.
End of Part 1. Tomorrow read Part 2.

Powerful message delivered with passion and honest hometown sincerity. I salute your talent and pray for all touched by this revolution… BTW, your acoustic “Free Bird” is a tribute to good ole Southern Freedom - I trust this sentiment to be shared by all born and bred in the USA that give it a listen…
