Maui County Citizens For Democracy In Action (MCCFDIA) produced this video of A Peaceful Solution with camera and editing assistance from Issei Productions of Maui.
The high production values, careful selection of shots and artful composition effectively conveys the MCCFDIA message even with a silenced soundtrack. The pacing moves right along relentlessly showing a story of hope and optimism in action.
Both the audio and the video can stand on its own to deliver a powerful message.
With the soundtrack the video becomes more than mere propaganda. As a complete piece of media art it becomes a statement of a problem, its solution and a peaceful resolution.
Vote back America.
MCCFDIA works at the intersection of several interrelated issues. Everything revolves around the power of individuals to exercise their rights. The video documents the actions of individuals exercising their rights within the system.
In one sense, no place could be further from “The Decider” than Maui, Hawai’i. In another sense, no one could be closer the central issues than We the People of Maui who strive to become the deciders.
The most powerful economic, military and political forces on the face of this planet have conspired over 100 years to manipulate Maui into becoming one of world’s finest tourist plantations.
Gated subdivisions full of the trophy homes of the wealthy sit vacant through most of the year while the gardeners and housecleaners who maintain them return every night to cramped housing conditions.
Over a dozen organizations attempt to regain the sovereignty of a people who never signed away their rights to those now in de facto control of Hawai’i.
Not surprisingly, Hawai’i has the lowest voter turnout in the United States of America.
Yet, in this environment, MCCFDIA strives to give strength to the desires of We the People of Maui. MCCFIDA works to prove the power of individuals exercising their rights.
Hemp, the industrial name for marijuana, and medical marijuana has been intentionally slandered by the government and in the mainstream media. MCCFIDA moves to redress this misrepresentation and their video addresses the long history of valid, useful and until recently legal uses of the cannabis plant.
MCCFDIA now spearheads the largest citizen’s voter registration drive ever seen on Maui.
Serving Maui’s advocacy groups like Patients Without Time (PWT) and Citizens Action Now (CAN), MCCFDIA encourages people to utilize the Democratic Process to enact the changes We the People desire.
The successful organization of We the People of Maui can show the way for the rest of the country and ultimately the rest of the world.
We the People can still come together and command the attention of the government to respect our wishes.
If MCCFDIA can activate the voters of We the People of Maui then anyone anywhere in the United States of America can activate their local voters.
If the United States of America can turn itself around and once again become responsive to the wishes of We the People then people everywhere will become inspired by the proven power of individuals united to exercise their rights.
This is a peaceful solution.
This is a peaceful resolution.
Vote back America.
Hawai’i State Representative Joe Bertram III has graciously lent his support and services in the MCCFDIA effort to help We the People use this Democratic Process.
We interviewed MCCFDIA and received these answers:
Why are you passionate about creating peace?
Because war is NOT the answer.
How long have you been working for peace?
All my conscious life.
What motivates you to work for peace and the environment?
Because it is the right thing to do!
Why have you chosen the path of Art for Peace?
The arts cross all barriers and boundaries.
What are your ideas for peaceful solutions?
Let’s VOTE Back America.

Obviously, this video addresses the song on a local level. While it was tempting to craft an edit using the Iraqi war theme, we felt more attuned to the “grassroots level” campaign efforts of Maui Citizens For Democracy In Action (MCCFDIA). Here on Maui we are fighting an epidemic of apathy and ignorance. Federal and state laws based on lies can steal our Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness. MCCFDIA has chosen to use the Democratic Process to affect the changes our people need; we are trying to “Vote Back” America.
Let’s end this Marijuana War.

On the Maui County Citizens For Democracy In Action (MCCFDIA Home page), I discoverd that from their concerns about the coastline and whales to their concerns about genetically modified crops, citizens there are working to maintain a culture that is in danger of becoming extinct. Once it’s lost, it can never be regained. They, and so many others of us in the US, are struggling “To Not Lose The Dream” that our country’s founders gave us. The dream of a government “of, by and for” the people.
My heart goes out to the people of Maui

Blessings, Peace, Love & Joy

There are many medicinal benefits of marijuana, which some medical doctors say alleviates the pain and nausea associated with AIDS, cancer, cancer treatment, and other diseases. I was recently in a serious car accident, in which I was hit by a drunk driver. I broke 6 ribs, my neck, and several vertebrae in my back. I was in the hospital for the last 2 months, and in rehabilitation 6 months since. I have been prescribed medication for my chronic pain, but have stopped taking it after I noticed I was becoming addicted to pain killers. My doctor recommended the use of cannabis as an alternative to prescription drugs, and issued a medical marijuana card (I live in California; where it’s legal to grow a few plants). I decided to purchase a grow box using hydroponics, for growing indoors, inside instead of outside; as it would be the easiest way to quickly get my garden producing the natural cocktail I require, and to make it through the day. My pain is almost in-imaginable. After 2 months I now have some beautiful plants awaiting harvest, and look forward to a natural way of relieving my pain. It’s cheaper, and for me more effective. I know marijuana is illegal in most of the country, but for me it is a godsend. I really believe that it should be legalized as an alternative medicine for those in need. Just my 2 cents…
