Terence McKenna excerpt from “The World and Its Double.”
What marvelous creatures we are.
And look at the depths to which we have sunk.
All we must do is to remember the miracles that we are.
But too many of us have given away, foolishly given away, the acknowledgement of our innate miraculous natures. Too many of us have become willing to forsake the marvelous potential available at any moment to recognize our personal human power.
And the cost of that waste, that squandering of resource, that disregard of our heritage has become the world we now live in. We now live in the tainted fruit of consistently selling ourselves short and taking the path of mediocrity.
Each of us possesses the ability to reclaim our greatness.
But it remains for each of us to individually do it.
No one can do it for us. No one can liberate us from our own misconceptions. No one can force us to be free, which would be a contradiction. No one can liberate us from the chains we ourselves create and adopt as features of our personalities.
We must each do it for ourselves.
Accept the gift that nature has offered us.

I am thoroughly enjoying these posts on Terence McKenna. What a great mind! I’m so sorry he’s no longer here. It would be something to hear what he’d have to say now!
