Best for Peace

by Patty Ann Smith

Peace is not about just being around nature. It’s also about being with genuinely peaceful people, doing peaceful things, going to peaceful places, and making peaceful choices in each of our lives. Peace is also about taking your time to discern what those choices would be for you. Stopping and doing nothing is better than moving ahead and hurting somebody. You’ll know what peace feels like when it comes, because you will feel contentment in doing absolutely nothing.

To me, the word “love” is an illusive thing because too often it comes with strings attached. It’s so easy to say the word “love” but it’s not so easy to “Be Peace”. And, yet, my goal is still to keep getting better at it, and that comes every time I’m peaceful with myself.

We can’t always trust each other, because there’s a part of man’s nature that carries excess baggage from his life’s history within himself. And, that history, whether good or bad, inevitably is projected out into all parts of his life….which most likely neither he or anyone else is aware of.

Love can be a “quick fix”. And, too often the addiction to love becomes another shackle on covetous man. It’s one of the easiest illusions for the human psyche to fall prey to, and we need to wake up about that so we can move on to real peace.

In so many cases, love can be a temporal and external thing, and what happens when the illusion of love is gone? Often, it’s despair and internal chaos that can lead to a myriad of things including guess what!…Extreme violence! And where is Peace then?

The Great Masters say peace has to come from within ~ and thereby, it is not temporal and it is not fleeting. I’d like to see what man could do if we stopped using the word “love” so much…and inserted instead…the living of our lives more peacefully.

We would like to thank Patty Ann Smith for her thoughtful essay.

Patty Ann Smith previously recorded her own version of A Peaceful Solution and then made A Peaceful Solution video based on her sound track. Patty Ann Smith also provided a story and song  she did for her brother, Before He Went To War and gave us a video of You And I Are One.

We frequently see Patty Ann Smith comment on our other articles so we know she is one of the Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute family in seeking a peaceful resolution.

You can hear some of her other songs at her Patty Ann Smith MySpace profile.
