How To Make Peace with Nature

Peace Toad

The Right of Every Animal

After seeing so many recent posts at Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute supporting animal rights, I, too, am compelled to express my thoughts on this very important topic.

If we were all indigenous Americans, we wouldn’t even be talking about this right now. Because, the sacredness of the animals and their gifts to us wouldn’t ever be in question.

It’s the greed in man that causes such abominations to animals. Greed that makes it so convenient for him to be ignorant, as well.

When man loses reverence for all life, he loses his way.

And because of this, right now, we have to find the peacemakers among us who we can truly trust to tell us about the sacred ways of the animals ~ “every” animal, “every” insect, “every” reptile, “every” fish… “every” living system ~

so we can find our way back home.

Back home to America and its Constitution that was inspired by the Iroquois Confederacy, of our indigenous people of North America…Native American Indians….

who knew the land and the seasons and the ways of animals.

Today, in our time of great changes on our planet, many have no idea how much we need dedicated good naturalist teachers who can excite us about the seasons, the elements, the ways of animals, and the cycles of life and whose primary interests are not in seeing dollar signs and selling some snake oil on the side.

Because, in order for atrocities on animals to stop, man needs to care again about having a spiritual relationship with nature.

“Relating” to something is key to “caring” about it.

No laws will completely stop these things.

When they will truly stop, will be when man has a spiritual need to do so.

For the first time since my childhood, I feel whole. And, even though it has been a long time in coming, I see, now, that this was what it was all about and was meant to be right now!!

Not any time later…or any time before…but this time, right now.

One of my favorite lines is from something Lenedra J. Carroll wrote:

“There is only this extremely pliable moment now.”

…. And my spirit definitely soars whenever I read this pearl of wisdom from
Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche:

“Dancing in all its forms cannot be excluded from the curriculum of all noble education: dancing with the feet, with ideas, with words, and, need I add that one must also be able to dance with the pen?”

Liz! Where would we be without our quotes to get us up Our Mountain!

  1. I loved reading this. I have spent the past week attempting to reason with breeders of exotic birds and gathering information about beak mutilation and devoicing of breeder birds so I can put together an article. I can only desrcibe the time I spent talking with these people as a nightmarish trip into the bowels of Hell.
It causes me great sadness to know, that even at this very moment, while I am sitting here typing, millions of innocent animals are being exploited and slaughtered in the name of commerce.
If I could have one wish granted, it would be that every person would know the same comfort I feel inside that comes from knowing I do not eat, wear or profit from any animals and I am able to look upon all of them in peace, respect and as a friend.
I can walk through the woods and know that I am a part of Nature, and it feels wonderful to be connected to all I see in a non-threatening way.
