Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute wishes to thank Reg and son Caley Campbell for accepting our invitation to submit A Peaceful Solution song and/or video. We never know what we will receive from all the many individuals who participate in the Willie Nelson A Peaceful Solution project and this unknowingness makes it all very exciting and rewarding.

Diversity of artistic expression fuels our soul and ignites our passion.

Reg and Caley Campbell have hit a chord with all of us at Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute. They created an incredibly beautiful and deeply moving arrangement of Willie Nelson’s and Amy Nelson’s A Peaceful Solution. I play this video over and over again and always find myself in a peaceful place throughout the performance and thereafter.

Reg and Caley’s version of A Peaceful Solution has many facets that demand attention. Every aspect of this performance and song presents a perfect example of peace. Before I speak of the music I feel the need to reflect on how wonderful that a Father and Son can find so much joy and love making such beautiful music together.

Reg and Caley Campbell appear to demonstrate a bond of respect and peace between Father and Son and at the same time convey a sense of personal peace. This reminds me that peace first begins within the individual who then manifests peace within the family group.

Inside and outside don’t really exist except in our minds.

As Robert Anton Wilson says,

“We are the magicians who make the grass green.”

When I look at Caley I think of the many boys and girls only a few years older who become soldiers leaving the family they love to fight in a war very far from home. Many of these young men and women will never have a chance to sit together and sing peaceful songs with their Dad, Mom, Brothers, Sisters or Friends.

Respect and love for the planet and each other allows peace to reveal itself.

The synergy of the sweet tones of the two acoustic guitars, Caley’s precision bluegrass picking and Reg’s vocals create a gestalt effect. All these individual parts become something so much greater when artfully combined during this duet. I never tire of listening to Reg’s calm and soothing vocals as he sings his touching original lyrics along with the enchanting guitar work of Reg and Caley.

Reg and Caley Campbell also sent us an mp3 file of their A Peaceful Solution rendition which we will feature this Friday in an article. In the meantime please check out their YouTube channel. Reg and Caley have lots of fantastic music to share with you. Their kind and responsive presence as Team Cannabis on YouTube has become a focal point for many diverse and creative people to gather.

This is dedicated to Dominick, born 09/13/2007.

May his world find peace.

Original song by Willie Nelson and Amy Nelson, written, arranged and performed by Reg and Caley Campbell for the Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute.

A Peaceful Solution

There’s a peaceful resolution, for a peaceful revolution.

Now let’s take, take her back, America!

There’s a war, and we’ll win, and I know that we will end.

Now let’s take, take her back, our America.

Peace is bantered, all around, but she can’t be lost, or found.

Til’ her dove, finds moral ground, in America!

It’s our dream, so believe, it’s our right to receive.

So we must get her back, our America!

With a peaceful resolution, for the peoples, revolution!

We’ll find Peace, the right solution, for America!

If we want, war to cease, we’ve got to take a chance, on Peace.

Join the peaceful revolution, for America.

There’ll be peace for you and me, in the land of liberty.

For the cost of war, is freedom, in the end, my friend.

We’ll remember, what we’ve done, remember why we won.

So we never, have to wage this war again.

When we ring, the bells of peace, and pass the world an olive leaf,

When the dove, flies high above, and she fills our hearts with love.

We’ll have Peace, and great increase… and America!

Reg and son Caley Campbell

I’ve been interested in peace since the Vietnam War in the ‘60s, and my longing for peace transcends my own art into everyday life. I believe in God, and on that merit alone, strive for peaceful solutions to conflict.

My first motivations were instilled from my parents, and my early influences were peace activists of the ‘60s. I’ve always looked up to peace-loving people like Jesus Christ, Khalil Gibran, John Lennon, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Martin Luther King Jr, and Ghandi, to name a few.

In the end, the question isn’t Why Peace? but, Why War?

My deep feelings on peace also pertain to the environment. Not only should man respect fellow man, but also the Earth we share. On a personal level, it starts at home, in small steps attained through recycling, composting, and conservation.

I try to instill these values into my boys, in order to ensure not only do they have a world to raise their own children in, but that it’s hopefully clean and peaceful.

In summation, to quote Mark Twain,

“The citizen who thinks he sees that the commonwealth’s political clothes are worn out, and yet holds his peace and does not agitate for a new suit, is disloyal; he is a traitor.”

Ultimately, we must vote our conscience, and take a stand on these very important issues.

Please vote in favor of peace and the environment.

  2. You have featured a very talented and heartwarming father and son team which I believed sets a very good example for the people who will check this site.

I consider myself very lucky to have known Reg thru our many encounters in Youtube where I first chanced upon TeamCannabis. I’ve found a person who is not only very talented, but a supportive and an appreciative down to earth individual you will ever encounter.

A person who’s a very strong advocate of peace in which I totally admire him for. Willienelsonpri should be very proud to feature such wonderful and talented people like Reg and Caley Campbell.

If we all could take a bit of inspiration from the passion felt for the land and for our fellow Human beings from all the people involved in spreading the feeling of peace threw this project, you all might accomplish what you set out to do. I sure hope so! So fitting to dedicate this song to Dominick, the future generation.

  4. Reg Campbell Says:

Hello Friends, A few thoughts to try and let you know where I’m comin’ from.
Remember Y2K. The hysteria, all computers are going to crash, and anything connected to them, hydro, water, airplanes will fall from the sky, there was a run on generators, people stockpiling food, water, gas, the media stirred up a frenzy. Then it came and went, nothing, not a thing happened, but it showed what the power of misinformation can be, when it is misused, and it was portentous of what was to become of the media,”the most trusted name in news”.
Then September 11, 2001… that sadest of days, another terrible bloodstain on humankinds tainted history. Mass murder, time stood still and has become burned forever in our memory, our hearts, minds and souls! We pray, may God bless those innocent souls and bring comfort to the loved ones, and the nation! God’s will be done, and justice be done, we had the whole world with us, to seek the perpetraters of this atrocity, and root out this evil from our midst.
The measure of good leadership, is it’s response under extreme pressure!
The test of courage is it’s response to extreme duress! Our leadership chose to use this atrocity, that is 911, as an act of war against Iraq. A country that had absolutely no connection to terror, posed absolutley no threat to us, and held no connection, or part ,great or small, to the murder, that was 911!
Iraq had been decimated, by a tyrannical, greedy leader. It suffered and lost millions of it’s citizens under 20 years of ungodly sanctions, that only affected its common folk, not its government. It had no Army, Bush Sr. and Stormin’ Norman left it for dead on the road between Kuwait and Baghdad in 92′. Our leadership chose to attack this small, OIL rich, nation, an act off all out agression, against a soveriegn people.
Then the lies were needed, they took part in 911, they have weapons of mass destruction, they have yellow cake from Africa, aluminum tubes, gas, Colin Powell at the U.N., Condi Rice, Cheny, Rummy, the talking heads, and media,
perpetrating and commiting absolute crimes, not just against Iraq, but against US as well. My Dad used to say “all is revealed in the end” I hope and pray he was right!
The leadership has had to cover their tracks, change the propagada so it fits their story. All the reasons they used, are now buried, as buried as the dead, may they rest in peace! They are chock full of new ideas why we must stay, why we HAVE to stay, why we can’t leave…But my friends liars are liars, and as a friend wrote, “criminals are remembered for their crimes!”
Now we’ve got this mess that is the Iraq war. Abu graib, Quantonimo, torture, secret prisons world round, loss of civil liberties, loss of freedom, death, destruction, hatred, rape, murder, loss of face, right, and integrity, and in the eyes of the murderous terrorists, we’ve given to them a sick vindication and added vastly to their ranks. My God, while ignoring domestic catastrophies and infrastructure, these same incompetent, lame leaders, drag on, and drag this mess on, and drag us on along with them, it’s truly pathetic, and it must stop
NOW! Before another innocent person pays the ultimate price, and we add more blood to the stained, tainted history that is humankinds. Thanks dear friends…Reg Peace

  5. hi reg, thank you for sharing your feelings and beliefs. i’m sure many people share your beliefs but are unwilling to speak out. we need more people to share their voice. and we need even more people to understand what is going on. when this happens, our world will change for the better.

  6. Reg Campbell Says:

How you can win the population for war: At first, the statesman will invent cheap lying, that impute the guilt of the attacked nation, and each person will be happy over this deceit, that calm the conscience. It will study it detailed and refuse to test arguments of the other opinion. So he will convince step for step even therefrom that the war is just and thank God, that he, after this process of grotesque even deceit, can sleep better: Mark Twain

  7. [...] and Caley Campbell demonstrate their creativity, kindness and generosity by not only providing an original video version of A Peaceful Solution based on Willie Nelson’s and Amy Nelson’s A Peaceful Solution [...]

  8. Louise Friedman Says:

It’s really simple when you think about it. Elect Dennis Kucinich and on Januay 20, 2009 he will bring the troops home and immediately begin Diplomatic efforts to bring about global peace. The Madness of King George will be over soon now - hopefully soon enough to prevebt war with Iran (shudder).

Everyone of us must take action and cajole our friends and neighbors to eneur that we “Bring Back America” by pulling the lever for Dennis Kucinich.

  9. Reg Campbell Says:

To Whom It May Concern - By Paul W.
    —————————————- —

Waging wars in the name of peace,
Killing millions to suit your needs,
Spreading terror like a new disease,
Scare the people keep them on their knees,
    Preach the value of democracy,
As you remove all of our liberty,
Give in to you so we can all be free,
Sell the fear and hope we do not see,

It’s a new world, a brave new world.

Came to power based upon a lie,
How many more people now must die?
To get the oil and riches that you crave,
The people who were free you now enslave,
    Masquerading as a Christian man,
I think the Devil is your only fan,
As you implement your ‘master plan’
    Terrorising everyone you can,

It’s a new world, a brave new world.

Terror’s nothing but a state of mind,
One that you inflict on all mankind,
Guns and oil are the family trade,
Let’s look again at all the plans you’ve made,
Arm the world then send us all to war,
And what exactly are we fighting for?
Now you’re daddy’s little golden boy,
And planet earth will be your brand new toy,

It’s a new world, a brave new world.

Sitting pretty in your seat of power,
As daddy tells you it’s your finest hour,
But when he’s gone where will you run and cower?
It’s those you serve who really have the power,
    You’ve underestimated all mankind,
So what’s the legacy you’ll leave behind?
Look back through history and I think you’ll find,
A criminal’s remembered for his crime,

It’s a new world, a brave new world.
