Hear ”A Peaceful Solution” by 6’s & 7’s Great Britain

Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute wishes to thank 6’s & 7’s for reaching out from across the ocean to participate in the Willie Nelson A Peaceful Solution project. Ruth Harry and Peter Clive-Francis, creators of the folk duo 6’s & 7’s, hail from Great Britain and bring much passion, commitment and support for a peaceful solution through the arts.

6’s & 7’s created a wonderful uplifting folk version of A Peaceful Solution to share with all of us contributing 2 more voices to global unity and world peace. The opening of A Peaceful Solution sets the tone for the piece by conveying a disarming childlike innocence through the combination of Ruth’s lilting vocals accompanied by a single acoustic guitar and Peter’s glockenspiel.

A vision for world peace untainted by politics and special interests presents itself to us by this simple yet profound presentation of innocence and joy. 6’s & 7’s makes it easy to enter their musical world and enjoy their version of A Peaceful Solution by their friendly, open and inviting style.

Peter’s vocals add great contrast to Ruth’s and support the idea of men and women working together in harmony to produce a peaceful solution. Ruth sings a lead then Peter sings a lead and then they sing together. 6’s & 7’s give us a small model of how a bigger model might work. Ruth and Peter support each other yet they also take lead positions to create a complete balanced work of Art for Peace.

Once again I see how the Willie Nelson A Peaceful Solution project offers so many lessons for unity through diversity when we collaborate on a common goal. Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute offers one song, A Peaceful Solution, to the world and invites you to create your own version. You may change the lyrics or add new verses. You may create an mp3 file or make a video using your own soundtrack or one we provide.

Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute has collected more than 50 different versions of A Peaceful Solution as mp3 files and on video and not one version sounds like any other. Artists from all over the U.S. and the world participate like 6’s & 7’s from Great Britain to illuminate the fact that we can all work together.

This collaboration of 6’s & 7’s with Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute demonstrates that unity through peaceful creative sharing will bring peaceful people together demonstrating a peaceful solution.

Willie Nelson’s simple approach is little short of brilliant in bringing out one’s emotion and passion about World Peace. We felt the need to try it in a major key to reflect our optimism in this project but we also felt it appropriate to return to the original melody at the end of the song.

Peter has been a philanthropist for as long as he can remember and has always sympathized with the Peacemakers of the world. He is weary of universal governmental interference and only wants unity.

I agree! Why doesn’t everyone?

Music is a very strong unifying medium, it has brought together huge groups of people across the world in projects such as charity concerts and ‘big sings’ involving schoolchildren.

We are thrilled to be involved in Willie’s project.
