Hear ”A Peaceful Solution” by Bill Hunter
Bill Hunter brings high energy to Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute by contributing his version of Willie Nelson’s and Amy Nelson’s A Peaceful Solution. We feel honored to feature Bill’s inventive hard hitting song which occupies a unique position in form.
Bill Hunter chose Willie Nelson and Family A Peaceful Solution soundtrack which has sections of pure instrumental as his musical accompaniment. He wrote original straight from the heart powerful lyrics which he blended with Willie Nelson’s original lyrics creating his own individualized style for A Peaceful Solution.
Bill Hunter becomes the first artist to take this kind of creative liberty and it works beautifully.
Bill’s original lyrics blend seamlessly into Willie Nelson’s and Amy Nelson’s A Peaceful Solution lyrics adding so much dimension and emotion to convey a strong argument to Take Back America. His lyric modification stays true to the vision and intent of the original song while communicating Bill’s personal feelings for peaceful solutions.
Bill Hunter’s rich, warm vocals delivered with such presence conveys the power of his absolute certainty and urgent necessity to Take Back America. Bill’s resonant vocals delivering his straight to the point lyrics stand strong in the tradition of the individual American who proudly speaks out for truth, love, peace and justice.
Bill calls his song “Willie and I” and he ain’t lying. The sweet transition from Bill Hunter singing to Willie Nelson singing “Take Back America” smoothly ends the song. I get the feeling Bill wants to allow Willie to have the last word as a sign of respect.
Thank you Bill for sharing your creative version of A Peaceful Solution.
A Peaceful Solution
If there’s a peaceful solution, To this peace revolution
We’ve got to take back America
There’s a war and we’re in it, Lord knows we’ve got to win it
We’ve got to take back America
There are to many greedy, Stealing from the needy
We’ve got to take back America
Politicians keep on lying, And good people keep on dying
We’ve got to take back America
If there’s a peaceful solution, To this peace revolution
We’ve got to take back America
There was a dream so believe it, Get ready to receive it
When we take back America
If you hate things we have done, And hate what we’ve become
We’ve got to take back America
We are the brave and the free, This is our democracy
We’ve got to take back America
If there’s a peaceful solution, To this peace revolution
We’ve got to take back America
There’s a war and were in it, Lord knows we’ve got to win it
We’ve got to take back America
In the shadows of our steeples, Gather up all honest people
And take back America
Let truth and love steer the course, To end these God damned wars
We’ve got to take back America
If there’s a peaceful solution, To this peace revolution
We’ve got to take back America
There is a dream so believe it, Get ready to receive it
When we take back America
There is a dream so believe it, Get ready to receive it
When we take back America

* * * * * Artist’s Statement * * * * *
This is a war we must win.
I am passionate about creating peace because I believe peace, honesty and responsibility are the main ingredients to harmony, and I believe living in harmony with others and the earth are man’s only hope.
I guess I have been working toward peace since the end of my high school senior year in 1970, while during a one on one conversation with my wrestling coach I was convinced the last thing I needed was to have my most proficient skill be taking of human life, he had been in special services and I was considering trying to become a green beret.
Thanks to Coach Miller my life and perspective were changed forever.
Since, I have shared my thoughts with young ones that I heard were considering time in the military and tried to steer them to a more productive course.
What motivates me to speak out for peace and the environment is that I believe this is a critical time. We can choose to live in harmony with the earth and others or we can bring an end to life as we know it.
The choice is ours and I pray that we are up to the task.
I’m not sure if I chose music or if music chose me to help express my thoughts. Though I have been writing songs for many years only recently have I had the opportunity to share them with others and felt a need get involved and speak out against what I know is wrong.
Through song I find I can most accurately convey my thoughts and emotions.
I think the key to A Peaceful Solution is for us to set an example, lead the way in sustainable consumption, economics and politics never forgetting the Golden Rule.
If we are to have lasting solutions we need to teach by example, forcing others into submission is not the answer.
Sincerely, Bill Hunter
There are other songs at highhatbill.com that represent my related feelings and concerns probably better than I am able to do so above.
