There is a peaceful solution. It’s called a peace revolution.
Now let’s take back America.
There’s a war and we’re in it, but I know we can win it.
So let’s take back America.
It’s a dream, so believe it.
Now get ready to receive it.
And let’s take back America.
And when the war is over and we’ve won it
let’s remember how we done it so we don’t have to do it again.
There is a peaceful solution. It’s called a peace revolution.
Now let’s take back America.
There’s a war and we’re in it, but I know we can win it.
Now let’s take back America.
There was a peace resolution
and a peaceful revolution
and the peaceful solution saved America
*********************************************************
“There’s a war and were in it, but I know we can win it” has been misunderstood by some to think Willie Nelson is singing about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. If you read Willie’s lyrics in the entire context of the song you will see he is talking about the war in America to enslave us.
That’s the war he says we’ll win. America has been stolen and Willie Nelson wants to “take back America.” Willie is not talking about Iraq or Afghanistan. Willie doesn’t believe we should go to war. Willie Nelson is 100% for peace. It’s time to “take back America.”
The war that we’re in is to “take back America.”
“And when the war is over and we’ve won it
let’s remember how we done it so we don’t have to do it again.”

America is not the only country in this war. It would have been a nice gesture to relate the song not only to American ideals but to those of the other countries that made up the coalition. As a citizen of one such country and a musician I was quite excited by this project but after seeing the song am whole-heartedly against the idea. WHAT A LOAD OF BOLLOCKS

Hi Lip, This song is not about the Iraq War. The war Willie refers to is in America against the war mongers who have destroyed much of what Americans thought their country was about. You are free to change the lyrics or add verses to express your feelings for a peaceful solution. We’d love to hear your version of A Peaceful Solution. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Since Willie Nelson did such a fine job of releasing a song and letting people run with it, I thought I’d try to do the same. I’ll post the words first. You can make your own tune to it if you like.
Next, I’ll just sing the melody I wrote, and you can run with that too.
I’m stuck without a good guitar right now, but if I can borrow one, I’ll sing and play and post the chords I used, but feel free to do with it as you like.
This seems to be a great thing and it seems to be catching on. I love the “Mother Earth” version that was added to “A Peaceful Solution.”
Ok. Here are the words. Please ignore the copyright. That was just so someone who didn’t care and just wanted to make money off of it couldn’t steal it:
Spread Your Love by Cal Jennings
Ki, Chi, The Source, The Force, are just
Different names for God.
It’s Really very simple,
But to you in may seem odd.
It’s through the Holy spirit
That God spreads Jesus love.
So evr’yone let’s all join hands
And spread peace from above.
The world is flled with hatred and war,
Greed, lust, violence, and sin.
We’ve got to fight a spiritual war
That only comes from within.
So if you call God Allah,
Buddah, Krishna, or Id,
It’s time to come together in peace.
It’s about time that we did.
Refrain:
Spread your love throughout the world.
Let your light shine bright.
It’s time to break the darkness
And turn on our inner light.

Willie……….It is good to see so many responses to your song, and the different renditions that the respondents favor. My favorite songtract is the Willie Nelson Family rendition. Although we have never met, we have grown up together through your music and our similar ideals. Hope you know how much encouragement and inspiration you give us Joe and Jane Lunchbuckets that are forgotten by Corporate America………..Bill

Our eagle no longer flies star spangled skies. Raging winds blow in to claim our Lady’s flame. Just a couple of lines from my poem titled “Degrees of Chaos”. There is lots of others to read on my web site in the poetry recital room. I am really excited to find others, like me, ready to stand up and take back America with Peaceful Solutions! Our country has eroded and decayed almost to the point of no return. We must act soon! Pray for God’s guidance and instructions. By all means pray for his strength!

Hey Willie!
I like the acapella version that you sang the best.
It has that raw “first inspiration” sound and feel to it that comes from the first time a song is born into the Universe out loud. And even the background noise is cool because it really puts you right there on that bus, that very day. Thank you for sharing this gift with the world and allowing others to help spread the message of peace in their own way. I’m working on my version and will send it soon. I did, in the meantime and just for kicks, record a guitar track to your singing and have an mp3 of it that I’d like to send you, if that’s alright. It was great jammin’ with you!

Hi Willie,
I was a big fan of Willie, but since I meet Willie Nelson on May 15th in Antwerp, he is coming closer to me. I know he is 75 years young, but I been 6 years younger than him and I call him my older brother.
I know I’m late to answer here on “Peaceful Solution”, but I think it’s never too late.
I have listen to all the singers and I can only say one word “Beautiful”. I love that song also.
Peaceful solution & God bless you,
John.

I heard this song for the first time yesterday being sung by a Jewish Rabbi at a funeral for his friend and congregational member who passed and who was a country music fan. Very inspirational. Especially when played on a cabaca type guitar. It was beautiful.

I just discovered this song this morning, following a link sent to me by Thom the World poet (thanks, Tom).
I have changed the words slightly so we in the UK can sing it (because we, too, are enslaved by the war).
Hope to sing it tonight at the Topic folk club in Bradford (which just happens to be the oldest continuous surviving folk club in the world!)
There’s a peaceful solution.
It’s called a peace revolution.
It’s up to all of us to save the world.
There’s a war and we’re in it, but I know we can win it.

And when the war is over and we’ve won it

And all of us together saved the world.
