Andy Franklin recorded his version of “A Peaceful Solution” with Mark Strum and Liz wrote about them in October. Now Andy Franklin has written “American Medication” and has sent us a version by Nashville Song Service.

This level of commitment to peace encourages me on many levels. Of course it is a great thing for a musician to write and record a peace song. Any artist working in pubic media exercises a power to expose people to ideas and in some cases to make convincing arguments.

Just bringing this issue before the public eye provides another opportunity to find the tipping point for producing a peaceful revolution.

No one knows which voice for peace will be the one to swing the balance away from conflict and violence.

Andy Franklin also demonstrates solidarity with other people working for peace. This is important because working for peace often only produces internal rewards and it is welcoming to find out that there are others out here working for peace.

There is both an element of preaching to the choir and of reaching out to those who are still confused about the real possibility of achieving world peace in our lifetime.

Even more than this, Andy Franklin is evidence of the growth of the greater peace movement and the increasing sense of urgency in the cry for peace.

Peace can propagate like the falling of dominoes stacked up on their edges next to each other. One voice for peace nudges someone else to speak out for peace.

Soon the call for peace will be heard everywhere.

You can participate in this call for world peace now. When your children and grandchildren ask what you did during this time, you can say that you worked for peace.

Why not do something that you can be proud of for the rest of your life?

Stand up like Andy Franklin and do your version of “A Peaceful Solution” and then keep on writing songs for peace and getting them produced.

In this way, you will be part of the future.

The best I can do is tell you why I wrote these words… this song was written as it seemed someone needed to be very direct. Not cryptic or vague. The thief is in the house stealing our jewels and we are letting it happen.

It seems no matter what they say or do the U.S. citizen is just too comfortable to realize the fact that nothing is forever and we can lose what we have. Americans need to be hit right between the eyes with the truth and hope this song will force them to wake up.

It is possible we elected-so to speak - the wrong person. That we can even in America be used by our own government. In the end we the people are risking a great deal going down this road… spending money in the wrong places, helping no one and not helping those of us here who need it. I don’t want to wake up one day and be in Nazi Germany. It can happen.

It seems we are medicated not by drugs but by a false sense of “everything will always work out “…lets hope so, but I’m not certain- I used to feel under any circumstance the government would come together for the good of the whole– I hope it is still true. Unfortunately I think we are about to find out.
