Although many thoughtful & creative people seem to make charming & elegant appeals for world peace, the work of Anna Thea Bogdanovich stands as exemplary. She appears to understand that we need more than just intellectual recognition of the need for world peace.

The everyday rituals and common practices of peaceful people need to become established as normal behavior. The violence that now passes as normal behavior promotes an attitude of permissiveness towards violence, if nothing else.

It seems too few take the time to imagine what a peaceful world would be like and make an effort to start inhabiting it now. Anna Thea Bogdanovich appears to make every effort to be the change and share the adventure she wants to see in the world.

If more people followed her example then we would all be living in a more peaceful world. I encourage you to visit her web sites.

Freedom's Land

I founded World Beat Media to produce music and multimedia projects that would inspire good will and understanding across cultures, contributing to the goal of World Peace.  Through the common language of the media arts, my work is dedicated towards achieving a global epiphany of our shared humanity and interconnectedness with all lifewww.worldbeatmedia.com

I was inspired to create Freedom’s Land when I heard the crown of the Statue of Liberty was going to open last year on the Fourth of July 2009 for the first time since 9/11.  Lady Liberty stands as a universal symbol of freedom and hope; yet she was also a silent witness to one of the most infamous examples of man’s inhumanity to man.  My music video aims to portray a vision of the ideals she continues to represent.

The video celebrates the enduring spirit of freedom and the resilience of the human spirit to triumph over adversity; and presents an optimistic view of America’s multi-cultural diversity as a microcosm of the world.

Most of the images were selected from the extensive archive Visions of America, taken over 30 years by world-renowned photographer-author Joseph Sohm.

Freedom’s Land lyric excerpt:
Like a white dove flying over cities of light
As long as I’m alive, I’ll keep one aim in sight
I want to live to see the world unite

I researched the historical significance of my launch date of Freedom’s Land in the Hebrew calendar on chabad.org and was amazed to read that Sunday, August 30, 2009 was said to be the anniversary of the day Noah released the Dove from the Ark!

Why are you passionate about creating peace?
I am passionate about creating peace because when our global dysfunctional family begins living together in greater harmony, the many trillions of wasted war dollars can be better allocated towards remedying all the myriad tragic ills of our world, like starvation, disease and environmental degradation.

What motivates you to work for peace and the environment?
I had a world peace vision in the Sequoia National Forest, when I first saw the awesome General Sherman Tree, the world’s largest living thing. I was shown in the vision that Peace on Earth was going to happen and I dedicated my life to being part of the solution, by creating music and other media projects for peace.

I believe that all human beings belong to one global family under one great Tree of Life. Regardless of our perceived differences, all of us must fulfill the same basic needs for a happy and healthy life.

Our greatest individual and collective challenge is to live in harmony with nature and with each other on this planet Earth, our shared home in the vast universe.

An annual invitation is posted to participate in World Around A Tree on the last Sunday in August, the date that will always fall closest to the anniversary date of Martin Luther King Jr’s I Have a Dream speech. People are invited to gather with family and friends at a tree of their choice, to contemplate their connection with nature and the Global Family Treewww.worldaroundatree.net

Why have you chosen the path of Art for Peace?
I believe it chose me! As long as I can remember, I have written and produced poems, lyrics, songs, multimedia, a music documentary Earth Tribe LA (nominated for an Emmy) and screenplays inspired by the subject of peace.

What are your ideas for peaceful solutions?

Along with my annual World Around A Tree peace event, I am developing other music videos that will integrate selected audio and video web submissions. All media projects are intended to further multicultural communication, tolerance and understanding, prerequisites for peace.

Freedom’s Land © 2009-10 single and music video are both available on iTunes. A percentage of sales will be donated to 9/11 charitable organizations.

I am honored to add my voice to Willie Nelson’s A Peaceful Solution project.

  1. Aren’t humans amazing? They kill wildlife – birds, deer, all kinds of cats, coyotes, beavers, groundhogs, mice and foxes by the million in order to protect their domestic animals and their feed.

Then they kill domestic animals by the billion and eat them. This in turn kills people by the million, because eating all those animals leads to degenerative – and fatal – - health conditions like heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and cancer.

So then humans spend billions of dollars torturing and killing millions of more animals to look for cures for these diseases.

Elsewhere, millions of other human beings are being killed by hunger and malnutrition because food they could eat is being used to fatten domestic animals.

Meanwhile, few people recognize the absurdity of humans, who kill so easily and violently, and once a year send out cards praying for “Peace on Earth.”

I’m honored she chose my images for your song, “Freedom’s Land.” If you can, try to hear more of her songs. You won’t regret it. She’s a real artist with tremendous merge of melody and message.
