Do you remember Christmas 2003? It was our first holiday season since the invasion of Iraq on March 20, 2003. Willie Nelson was watching news footage of the Iraq war on TV. He saw, “Babies dying…” women and children consumed by the madness of war. He looked at his wife Annie and said, “Mother’s crying. Whatever happened to peace on earth?”
“Go get a pencil and write it down”, Annie told him. And so he did. Willie Nelson wrote “Whatever Happened To Peace On Earth?” Later Willie recorded it with the help of friends and family, including his sons Lukas and Micah, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Michael McDonald and Patrick Simmons from Doobie Brothers.
This song is available to you right now.
All proceeds from the sale of “Whatever Happened To Peace On Earth?” go to benefit the National Veterans Foundation. Buy Willie Nelson’s song for peace and help veterans and their families. Think of how you will feel knowing that during this busy holiday season you helped support veterans and their families.
Veterans have born the brunt of the government’s commitment to violent aggression. Any way your slice it, veterans have offered and risked everything in our name. Too many have become casualties and left behind grieving families in need.
Do you have 99 cents to help veterans and their families?
This holiday season you can help support veterans and their families by purchasing “Whatever Happened To Peace On Earth?” Buy now and support our veterans and their families.
Since “Whatever Happened To Peace On Earth?” was written in 2003, more and more people have started to ask, “Whatever happened…?” You can join this growing body of questioning Americans. Look at what we have become as a nation. Look at our slipping national status among other nations.
We can be encouraged as more and more people wake up and start asking questions demanding accountability from the government. Is this truly how We the People desire our government to perform?
Part of our government’s performance deficit regards veterans.
The National Veterans Foundation is a national non-profit, non-governmental organization dedication to bettering the lives of veterans and their families, and honoring their service to our country.
Willie Nelson believes the National Veterans Foundation is worthy of your attention and support. That is why he and the others contributed their talents and skills to this production.

Whatever Happened To Peace On Earth?
Written By Willie Nelson
There’s so many things going on in the world
Babies dying
Mothers crying
How much oil is one human life worth
And what ever happened to peace on earth
We believe everything that they tell us
They’re gonna’ kill us
So we gotta’ kill them first
But I remember a commandment
Thou shall not kill
How much is that soldier’s life worth
And whatever happened to peace on earth
(Chorus)
And the bewildered herd is still believing
Everything we’ve been told from our birth
Hell they won’t lie to me
Not on my own damn TV
But how much is a liar’s word worth
And whatever happened to peace on earth
So I guess it’s just
Do unto others before they do it to you
Let’s just kill em’ all and let God sort em’ out
Is this what God wants us to do
And the bewildered herd is still believing
Everything we’ve been told from our birth
Hell they won’t lie to me
Not on my own damn TV
But how much is a liar’s word worth
And whatever happened to peace on earth
Now you probably won’t hear this on your radio
Probably not on your local TV
But if there’s a time, and if you’re ever so inclined
You can always hear it from me
How much is one picker’s word worth
And whatever happened to peace on earth
But don’t confuse caring for weakness
You can’t put that label on me
The truth is my weapon of mass protection
And I believe truth sets you free
(Repeat Chorus)
