I was thinking today that the first chord I learned to play on the guitar was the C chord. And when I was introduced to the piano I found out the whole keyboard is centered on middle C. That got me thinking about connections. Not only another C word but crucial for global peace. I began brainstorming to see how many positive words start with the letter C that might allow peace to manifest. So here’s my list of 10 essential C words which I believe with sincere practice will reveal the underlying peace that already lives in our hearts and manifest global peace in our external world.

1. Compassion occupies the number 1 spot in my mind as a means to realize world peace in our lifetime. If one cares for another without possessiveness, desire, lack of awareness or expectation of reward and this true caring is undifferentiating, spontaneous and limitless for all sentient beings we build a foundation for a sustainable peace for all internally and externally as a way of life.

2. Confidence is absolute certainty that “I can do it alone if necessary.” True confidence connotes the ability to act without asking permission, needing praise or fearing consequences of the actions. Confident people will succeed by sheer intention alone. Now if we are confident that peace is a reality we will act to insure this reality. This attitude sets the groundwork for success.

3. Commitment is a trait of genuine and unwavering fixity of purpose. Commitment means you’re in for the long run not ducking out if the desired results are not imminent. As more people commit to a peaceful way the entire world will respond to reflect this intention.

4. Courage is a virtue or quality of spirit that allows one to confront danger, the unknown or intimidation. There are many definitions regarding courage and it is a personal choice how to relate to this concept so I choose to define courage as fearlessness. This idea was summed up really well for me in the movie “The 13th Warrior” which I think is the best movie I’ve seen describing the Viking mentality. Forgive me if you can’t make the connection but I have red hair and I know it’s from the Vikings so I relate.
“Luck often enough will save a man if his courage will hold. Fear profits man nothing.”
“In the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.”
Wow, Bravery gets you eternal life in their worldview. I think this is way cool. Now if we apply courage to peacemaking instead of rape and pillage we have a vital quality that is unstoppable.

5. Curiosity is a strong motivation towards a need to know or find out without any other agenda necessary. A curious person moves to solve problems in a most unencumbered way. Curiosity is a valuable asset to approach the problem of how to solve the interrelated issues surrounding peacemaking.

6. Creativity is a process, which makes the invisible visible. It is an act of magic or manifestation and the closest mere mortals can come to emulate God’s powers. World peace is a creative process. Everyone has the potential to be an artist of peace. Peace is a way of being.

7. Cooperation is a participatory operation or action where an ensemble shares various talents and skills. Every person on Earth has unique abilities and when united with others in a spirit of cooperation towards the similar goal of world peace a successful outcome is certain.

8. Connection is a relation between people, things or events creating a bond. This interaction and subsequent understanding fuels a feeling and knowingness of oneness. We will reveal world peace when all people everywhere feel that we are truly one.

9. Community today necessitates a new definition encompassing a workable dialogue concerning global peace. The old definition of geographic boundaries or shared government does not approach a workable definition for an interconnected world. Community is an ensemble with relationships of shared interests that collectively interacts on an ongoing basis with a specific common objective. The individuals’ personal motivation for participation need not agree with any other member of the ensemble. But without a continual personal passionate reason for participation and a belief personal interests are satisfied the member’s involvement will end. Each person in the ensemble must personally receive ongoing benefits and feel their interests are met for continual participation. If one understands community as possessing particular boundaries between their members and non-members, a unified community of all peoples of the world where everyone is a willing member without boundaries ushers in the way of peace.

10. Change is moving from one state of being to another. This shift will happen whether you like it or not. You know the saying, “Change is the only constant.” Change is continuous and if we learn to embrace it we recognize that if we don’t like what is happening we have a chance to change it. Peacemaking efforts through conscious action create purposeful change.

If we can integrate these 10 ideas realizing the inter-connectivity of the concepts in action a unity of process may enable the transformation of humanity and our environment for positive peaceful benefits for all sentient beings.

    Willie:
I have always liked you and your attitude towards stepping up to the plate. This is a great idea that you have. I am a Islam loving peace supporter who has been trying to get people to seperate religion from culture and do the right thing. So many Muslims are not able to understand what the Quran says about peace..the most important thing is and I quote “To save one life is akin to saving all of humanity” Keep up the good fight!

  2. Willie, I have always been a fan of yours, but the more I learn of you, I have found you to be an awesome person, not just for your music, but your entire life. I doubt you even realize how many people you have helped and influenced in you life time. Sometimes I wish this was SciFi time and I could be a Vulcan and do a mind melt to learn all the knowledge you have. I am striving to get there. Also have a Goal to get all of you music, if I live long enough. I try to buy at least 2 a month when our money comes in. Will keep collecting. May Creator bless you. Ya Ta Hey
