A Peaceful Solution Sloan Watson

Sloan Watson sings “Peace Saved America” in his version of “A Peaceful Solution.” That and some mighty fine slide work on his round-neck resonator guitar distinguishes this recording.
It is good to remember that it is not just about what we can do for peace but also what peace can do for us.
Sloan Watson reminds us of the healing power of peace.
Peace isn’t about sacrifice as much as it’s about benefits. Freedom and liberty seem like hollow ideas when we labor under the tyranny of violence and conflict.
The world currently spends a great deal of resources on violence and conflict. Resources could be applied towards solving problems related to global warming or feeding everyone as petroleum products become more expensive.
Transportation, education, health care and housing could all benefit from attention and resources now expended upon war and aggression. Our young people could grow, learn and lead productive lives instead of dying on foreign lands.
Peace would end this mindless waste of people and resources. Peace would enable focus and concentration upon the global challenges the human race will need to face in the coming years.
This is bigger than anything a single person can solve but it is something we can all solve together. Just stand up and lend your voice to peace.
Peace starts with the individual. It is an individual decision to choose peace. Only when individuals decide for peace that we’ll see peace spread across the planet.
You don’t need to be a musician to lend your voice to peace. You can just talk about peace with those who you meet during your regular day.
Talk about peace with friends, family, neighbors and co-workers. Help keep peace on the top of everyone’s mind.
And if you are a musician, then please consider singing “A Peaceful Solution.” We’ll be glad to write it up in an article here.
Sloan Watson sings out for peace. Now let’s see how many others will join him.

Why are you passionate about creating peace?
If we really look at what is accomplished through peaceful means we find these are the truly lasting values and meanings that carry us forward and not backward to ground zero where we have to rebuild from the ashes of violence.
There is a fire and passion in peace that I think is missed by the culture that worships the quick fix and the addiction to the “Drama” of violent competition on an individual and collective basis.
Peace is the passion.
What motivates you to work for peace and the environment?
I heard a lecture recently from a Hopi Indian educator doing a seminar for a group of corporate CEOs on the state of the world and where we are headed. The CEOs were unanimous in their agreement that profit was the main motivation for their companies which amounted to “profit at all cost” to the world, the environment etc…and that although something could be done it was the cost of “doing business.”
The instructor asked if the man was a father to which he replied “yes” as did others. He then asked if he were a grandfather. Yes was again the reply. To this the educator asked, “When do you stop being a CEO and start being a grandfather.” I believe there is all the motive in the world in this little story.
Why have you chosen the path of Art for Peace?
Music, Art, education, communication are paths for peace and always have been and probably always will be.
These are avenues of expression and learning that are open to multiple interpretation, perception and application while existing with an underlining unity that can be got at through “peaceful resolution” provided they are not distorted by fundamentalism, fascism, ism ism and all other isms that separate and create a tendency to take by force or violence perceived lack or need.
What are your ideas for peaceful solutions?
I believe that if we start with ourselves as individuals.
Begin the resolution to revolution in our heart of hearts and practice peace within ourselves first, our family second and then out into our community we will find our solution.
I see it and feel it every day in the youth of our world and in the refusal of older generations to sit back and be put out to pasture. It has started and hopefully in peace will continue grow and evolve. Hopefully we can lose the “Ball and Chain” of addiction to consumption that fuels the violence!
