If we can take as a premise that no system or culture based upon the unrestrained exploitation of nonrenewable resources can ever be sustainable.
This is just plain sense.
The never ending quest for new sources to replace depleted resources creates conflicts with traditional communities that do not wish to give up or sell the resources on which their communities are based.
Usually traditional communities must be destroyed before their land can be ravaged for resources such as gold, oil or hydroelectric power.
In either case, any way of life based upon the accelerating consumption of nonrenewable resources demands widespread violence.
Violence appears everywhere to perpetuate a life style that must inevitably end.
This violence has been rationalized when necessary but more often it is ignored. Silent permission is favored over any requirement to furnish an excuse. Uncounted millions of indigenous people and their traditional communities have been sacrificed upon the altars of production.
Any threat to this production, any resistance to the exploitation of resources and the destruction of traditional communities of indigenous people is met with unrelenting ruthless violence. This is called justice, the spreading of democracy and the manifest destiny of our culture.
If a halt is not put to culture, to this system of violence and exploitation, then civilization as we have come to know it will relentlessly grind on needlessly creating pain and suffering while degrading the planet until the system collapses.
Peace On Earth would halt this process.
The longer the destruction goes on the worse things will get for those living through it and those who will come after us.
We depend upon the natural world.
We depend upon the aid and good intentions of our neighbors.
We destroy the natural world and alienate our neighbors at our peril.
Perhaps those who survive the collapse will have learned their lesson and live together in peace with each other and their environment. Sooner or later, the human race will need to live in balance with the rest of the world.
Sooner would be better that later.

Peace and Security – When will it come?
From what source? What will it mean for mankind?
“[God] is making wars to cease to the extremity of the earth. The bow he breaks apart and does cut the spear in pieces; the [war] wagons he burns in the fire.”—Ps. 46:9.
It is God’s to destroy the false foundation for peace and security and building a true foundation. The sovereignty of the true God, Jehovah, will be exalted in all the universe. For this reason Jehovah extends the invitation at Psalm 46:10: “Give in, you people, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” It is only when all mankind submit to Jehovah God as Sovereign Lord of the universe that peace at last will reign supreme. While lovers of true peace wait for that glorious time, they can exult in the protection that Jehovah assures: “Jehovah of armies is with us; the God of Jacob is a secure height for us.” (Ps. 46:11) So, while the nations build on explosive foundations for a shaky peace and false security, all who heed the admonition of God’s Word, the Bible, can press forward toward the real peace and security that is guaranteed only by God’s kingdom through Christ Jesus.—Matt. 6:10.
Peace will come – Jehovah has promised it.

I’m just a born again ‘yahoo’ from Vermont, but Mr Dudley is right and Willie, well, Willie sounds like a sweet sounding rebel without a cause. I love your sound willie and God loves you too, but if you’re gonna quote the Bible, you should probably apply it to yourself first.
Confess Christ Before Men,
The Gospel according to Matthew:

And Jesus speaking to his disciples said this in John chapter 14 starting in verse 23:

He will teach you the true meaning of PEACE
vs 27 “PEACE I leave with you, MY PEACE I GIVE TO you; NOT AS THE WORLD GIVES do I give to you. LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED, NEITHER LET IT BE AFRAID.”
JEHOVAH = JESUS = THE WORD OF GOD
REceive JESUS and FIND PEACE (SHALOM) = wholeness, nothing missing, nothing broken!
and it’s not just for the life to come the sweet by and by (eternity- which is a long, long time) but it is for the sucky here and now – in the land of the living!!!

The Bible is full of allegory and promises. The different ways it is sorted out gives us as many different religions.

Does not 1 John 4:8 teach us that “God is love.” And if God is love, would it not be a violation of his character to torture the majority of people in a fiery hell?

Dear Willie, My husband and I are long time fans very involved in peace work, bringing those in conflict together in face-to-face dialogue. For the past 18 years we have focused on Israelis and Palestinians which you can see on our web site. During those years we have driven far and wide with Jews and Palestinians (Christian and Muslim) in our van always playing “On the Road Again” as our theme song. We believe that “An enemy is one whose story you have not heard.” After reading an article in our Sunday paper today, I learned about your Peace Research Institute, adding one more reason why we appreciate you and the messages you bring to people through your music. I’m sure our kids will play “On The Road Again” at our funeral service!
Thank you for bringing joy into our lives and for the good you do to help those in need. We are doing our part to help build relationships based on respect and with the understanding that we are all interrelated, interconnected and interdependent.
