Rudy van Dam from Netherlands produced his performance of “A Peaceful Solution” and joins in the international chorus singing for peace. His acoustic style and self-accompaniment on the harmonica creates a comfortable atmosphere.
Rudy van Dam has put a lot of great music up on his YouTube and MySpace profiles. You can tell that he is an avid student of American culture. I find it encouraging to hear “A Peaceful Solution” sung around the world.
The occupation of Iraq will end one way or another. If nothing else intervenes then the war will end when the United States of America no longer has the capacity to wage war.
That time is closer than many people think.
Every battle in Iraq has resulted in victory for the U.S. Military but the War has been lost. The United States of America does not rule Iraq and hardly controls events in the country.
It’s just another militia contesting the streets.
The U.S. Military retreats back to its bases after a foray out and about in Iraq. There is no future for the occupation. There aren’t enough troops to hold territory or establish security.
In fact, our troops only make things worse.
There will be no winning the hearts and minds of the Iraqis. The U.S. Military has done too much damage to be welcomed there for as long as memories of these events persist. The suffering has been incalculable.
As long as the occupation continues so will the fighting.
It seems no one wants to admit their mistakes and recognize that the war in Iraq was lost before it began. The war is based on lies, it never had the support of We The People of the United States of America and Iraq never was a threat to U.S. National Security.
Look at the mess we are in now.
Our weakening financial markets are dragging the value of the U.S. dollar down around the world. Our bond and equity markets are shaky. The banking system barely sustains one blow after another. Tax revenues are falling, consumer spending is down and the belief we are heading into a long and painful recession grows daily.
We cannot afford war any longer.
It would seem to be obvious. If nothing else this cruel violent Iraq debacle proves the obsolescence of war. The sooner the government concedes this point the better. Then we can bring our troops home.
Perhaps more people can now see all the problems that come from seeking violent means. In destroying a country half way around the world we have severely crippled ourselves and possibly delivered our own terrible sentence.
We will be held accountable.
We can stop the violence now. We can embrace a peaceful resolution and instigate a peaceful revolution. We can take back America. Or we can wait until the conflict ends because the United States no longer has the capacity to wage war.
The price we pay depends on how long the madness continues. We can choose peace now and move forward in solving real problems with what remains of our resources.
Or we can stay the course and create more problems than all the future generations can ever resolve by spending the last of our resources creating more death and destruction.
Create peace now while we are alive or face the peace of eternal silence as the just returns of a violent existence. We will have peace, the only question concerns whether or not we will be able to enjoy it.

herewith my humble contribution:
Peace is worth fighting for. Any which way but without violence that means.
History shows us that is not an easy thing to do. Yet we, as individuals or group, must keep believing and trying.
Whether through word, art or music.
Love is the word, without love no peace.
Since David Crosby once sang: “Ev’rybody’s saying that music is love” and I believe in it, this is my humble contribution to a Peaceful Solution.
Thanx to Willie Nelson for his words and music.

[...] It is so inspiring, as artists from all over the world sing this song from the heart, and make their own individual efforts to spread peace in the world, through music. You can see Rudy’s performance at the Willie Nelson Peace Research Institute site at http://willienelsonpri.com/peace/634/a-peaceful-solution-rudy-van-dam.html [...]
