Slade Patrick Darrin sings his version of “A Peaceful Solution” accompanying himself on the piano playing his own arrangement. This would be an accomplishment of note to anyone’s credit and is particularly noteworthy because Slade Patrick Darrin is ten years old.

Some might question what perspective a ten year old could bring to the issues of war and peace.

I say to them that Slade Patrick Darrin proves by his actions that he knows the world is not just his private fantasy to exploit and ravage at will, that people and other living beings do not exist merely to serve his amusement and pleasure, and he does what he can to mitigate unnecessary pain and suffering not increase it.

These are credentials enough to have a worthy perspective on anything.

Since ten year old Slade Patrick Darrin proves to possess these credentials I must question the nature of those living being that do not. After all, what kind of being would destroy ecosystems that evolved into balance over millions of years and wage genocide upon the innocent inhabitants of those areas just to extract one or two substances and abandoned the remains as refuse?

What kind of being instigates death, destruction and war to the fatal misery of millions of people and countless forms of life to maintain an extravagant, ostentatious, excessive, wasteful and ultimately doomed lifestyle? Could you refer to a being that could do these things with forethought and planning without conscious, guilt or remorse as truly human?

Most importantly, would you want these beings to run the United States of America and control the most destructive military capacity in the history of the world?

Where in our current system of checks and balances exists the leverage to stop the mad course the United States of America now travels? Why haven’t the other branches of government stepped in to halt the insanity? Where is the worthy opposition to unprovoked aggression and mass killing?

You cannot know how thrilled I am that Slade Patrick Darrin chooses peace.

Slade is a gentle soul and has always had a natural affinity for Peace. He finds the idea of fighting and war to settle conflicts very strange. After watching Willie with Amy Goodman on Democracy Now!, he announced that he would like to be a part of the Peace Project. He went straight to the piano and arranged his own version of “A Peaceful Solution.”

Slade has been playing piano concerts for Senior Homes and using the major part of his earnings to donate food and supplies to the local animal shelter and other animal-welfare related charities. He was very excited to think he could now use his music to foster Peace.

He is an avid conservator of the Earth. Slade will always be the first to remind others to stop running the water and flip off the light-switch. Around the house, he is the master of recycling.

Slade loves nature, animals, and people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. He is fascinated with astronomy, can perform a good magic trick or two, excels at his schoolwork, and hopes to be a veterinarian someday.
