Peter Theis produced another great version of “A Peaceful Solution” complete with his accomplished guitar picking style, unique bass vocals and a quirky video walk down the road. He cloaks a vital and important message in a deceptively laid back and mundane wrapper.
Peter Theis suggests some peaceful solutions in text such as sustainability, equity, zero waste, closed loop production, renewable energy, local living economies, and by the people for the people. I find this list significant because Peter Theis indicates foundational cultural solutions rather than pointing at the usual cliche Band-Aids usually offered up as quick fixes.
Even if peace should spontaneously break-out tomorrow, without attention to foundational cultural issues we will never have a lasting peace. Peter Theis offers Martin Luther King, Jr. sound bites to provide clues to a properly functioning democracy.
MLK, Jr. said “Democracy does not come from the top down, it comes from the bottom up.” and “Democracy cannot be brought to the people with bombs and missiles.” Then he goes on with “The world is what we make of it.” and finally “Democracy must be born within a people and it will flourish.”
These quotes highlight the glaring error in thinking our military could ever bring democracy to Iraq. These quotes also point out the mistakes We The People Of The United States Of America have made in trusting our government to safeguard our democracy.
Governments can only govern, that is to say that governments can only tell you what to do, how to do it, when to do it and prohibit you on the pain of incarceration or death from doing anything else.
Only We The People Of The United States Of America can safeguard our democracy.
Then in his statement, Peter Theis raised the uncomfortable idea that perhaps we no longer have a complete democracy at all. I encourage everyone to at least click on the link he provides and read what Naomi Wolf wrote.
However, Peter Theis and Naomi Wolf do not mention the damage already done by the so called war on drugs. Any reasonably honest attorney will tell you that our Bill Of Rights has been rendered functionally useless and ineffective on the excuse of the war on drugs.
Then account for what We The People Of The United States Of America lost with the USA Patriot Act of 2001, the Terrorist Watch List, every abuse of the 1917 Espionage Act, the Military Commissions Act of 2006 and the John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007.
Anyone who still naively believes we live in a truly democratic country with functional rights, protected freedoms and guaranteed liberty needs a reality check.
No presidential candidate has spoken out against our loss of democracy. No presidential candidate has suggested nullifying oppressive laws and outrageous executive proclamations.
Do not forget that our ride down this slippery slope toward fascism accelerated under the Clinton administration. Democrats have not done any better at protecting us than the Republicans.
We face a corrupt and oppressive system and the illusion of choice is preserved only when we are offered the choice between the two political parties.
Take Back America or live through the end of America as the beacon of freedom, liberty and democracy. The choice is in actuality and in reality yours to make.
To do nothing is to allow the choice for fascism to be made for you by those who stand to profit most by it.
But as Willie Nelson sings, “What is one picker’s word worth?” and you may well question the value in what a blog publishes but think instead of what your freedoms, rights and liberty is worth.
You may not credit Willie Nelson, Liz or I with the authority or credibility to raise these issues but before you shrug your shoulders and click away please consider what Naomi Wolf wrote in the Guardian.
You owe it to yourself, your loved ones and your unborn descendants to wake up, look around and honestly evaluate what is happening in the United States Of America.

Let’s think about FEAR versus HEALTHY ACTION. Fear is used to control us, to get us to submit, to get us to not think, to keep us from doing good things and doing what’s right. Healthy Action recognizes that the world is what we make of it — so we need to act, and make our actions as healthy and positive as possible.
Naomi Wolf and others have given us a clear warning — what will happen to our world if we allow fear to be our guiding energy source instead of healthy action:

Yet, even in the face of a big military force and corporate thugs who care very little for anything other than profit, look at what THE PEOPLE did in Bolivia!
The corporations wanted to privatize the rainwater that fell from the sky!!!
And the people said, “No, you’re crazy, there are things that are among ‘the commons,’ basic things we ALL have a right to FOR FREE that should not be for sale: water, food, shelter, free minds, and so on.” So the people took healthy action and they put rocks in the roads and surrounded the government buildings, demanding that the corporations no longer have the right to rule over them — that the people can and will rule themselves.
THAT was a peaceful revolution!
See any rocks lying around anywhere? Think you could move a couple into the streets?
Let’s walk the path of love and demand that WE THE PEOPLE, not just a few “elite” goons, are truly in charge here!
Peace!
Peter Theis
