Willie Nelson’s family is growing by leaps and bounds. Meet the new citizens of Luck, Texas. Willie’s fillies are Barbara Rosa, Lyric and Spirit who were all born in March. Willie has a couple studs as well, Music and Django.
How did Willie Nelson get so lucky?
Amy Nelson was at a SAPL rally in Washington D.C. to support the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act when she met the folks from Habitat for Horses. They asked her if Willie would adopt 12 paint horses that were in a desperate situation, a few just skin and bones. And of course Willie Nelson said yes. So now these beautiful horses are Luck, Texas citizens. That’s a lucky fate.

How did these horses end up in a tragic situation?
A paint horse breeder named Edward’s died leaving a large herd of paint horses to his son. The son wanted to sell the horses and unknown to him he sold them to killer buyers. These killer buyers misrepresent themselves and instead of the horses going to a new loving home they are sold to slaughter. Only 12 were saved.
289 horses were slaughtered and many were pregnant.
We have a happy ending for these original 12 horses because after surviving their ordeal they now have a permanent loving home. And Willie Nelson and family have 5 new foals that almost didn’t have a chance to be born. 289 beautiful and healthy paint horses ended up being slaughtered and the meat shipped overseas to be sold for human consumption.

We stopped horse slaughter in the United States.
Right now there are no horse slaughter plants operating in the United States but the horses are not safe yet. It is still legal to transport the horses to Canada and Mexico for slaughter. During several days of travel the horses receive no food or water before they are brutally slaughtered.
You can save horses just like Willie’s from slaughter.
The American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act needs to be passed at the national level to stop all horse slaughter for human consumption and the transport of horses across the border to meet the same fate.
Please contact SAPL NOW.
Willie Nelson and family thank you for joining us to save our beautiful horses.

Hi
I operate a rescue in Saskatchewan Canada, myself and volunteers are trying to place as many horses as we can. I currently am able to provide homes for approx 15-18. I also have the moral support of the Canadain horse defense coaltion. Please check out the web site and feel free to leave me a message or contact me through my email. Together we can end the slaughter in Canada also.
